Trades are relevant in the past BECAUSE YOU BOUGHT THEM UPAnd yet now you want 6 + 13 for Rioli when I’d argue he’s not even worth 6, and you want West Coast to pay more for an uncontracted Baker than Geelong are going to pay for a contracted Bailey Smith
I don’t see how past trades are relevant here.
Adelaide have just paid 28 for a contracted Neal-Bullen. 14 for Baker and 2x early firsts for Rioli is criminal.
10+18 is more than acceptable for Bolton, and as has already been suggested in this thread, would’ve been accepted if Fremantle didn’t also hold 11.
You just stated that we were historically tough at the trade table when it’s demonstrably false.
Rioli we are driving really hard, that’s true. Because he was tapped up by GC and we don’t want to lose him. So they pay or he stays. That one isn’t a trade where both sides are happy to start with.
Different to ANB because the Dees were given advance notice by him and the reasons why, and it was two parties working together. I think it’s slight unders (about pick 18-20 maybe)
I think Baker has a similar value to ANB . Yes, he’s OOC, but younger. WC don’t have the puck at the moment. I’d say if 14 was involved (and WC sound like it is) there will be stuff around the edges.
Bolton is interesting. It’s reported Freo have offered 10 & 18, and we’ve asked for 10 & 11. They’re not that far apart, and I think that will sort itself out.
It’s a negotiation. If Freo have offered 10 & 18 they know it may take more. Richmond have asked for 10 & 11 knowing they may get less.
Like buying a used car, if the sticker says $19,999 drive away no more to pay, do you just walk up and blindly pay the price? Or do you haggle?
People need to relax, most of this will work itself out. Really confident Bolton and Baker get done. Bit less confident about Rioli.
