I prefer each player to get the team tattoo with the MCG dimensions. How else can you immortalise the GF 22...?

I'm a fan of medals. Bowing the head to receive a medal is a lot more symbolic for a victory rather than receiving a box with a ring in it.

Post game pics look better with medals around their necks and a framed medal on the wall at home would look better than a ring presented in anyway.

Its bad enough we have a bloody shot clock and commentators that call players quarter backs.

The rings in the US aren't from the league. They are from owners. A footy club could do it off their own bat if they wanted.
