Theres definately been some changes to the way we play , We overlap faster , move the ball at every chance ( which is more about confidence ) our tackling & pressure has been ferocious as well ,( pressure has gone up ) we are linking up with purpose & that is contacious in a team. I dont know if others have noticed theres alot more TALK out there , they are playing with freedom & you can see they are really enjoying playing ATM,
Has it just clicked or is it more about it all falling into place under a new coach ?

Simpson has done one thing right and that is getting us to play great footy - watch as they talk about the change in gamestyle and how much we've improved over the last two weeks in key stats - Quite a Phenomenal turnaround!

YOU TRICKED ME INTO WATCHING A DERMMMMM CLIP. I HATE YOU.

But according to a certain poster we've abandoned Simpsons plan and playing to Woosh's plan now..

o_O

more like we have ditched the Simpson style and reverted to the Worsfold game plan in the last two weeks

Please, discuss.

Those stats are quite something - such a dramatic turn around suggests the game plan has clicked.

We looked paralysed moving the ball forward at stages this year. I wonder if the pressure was released a bit when it looked like we weren't playing finals and we started to roll the dice. Whatever it is hopefully the team takes a lot of confidence in how effective it has been in the last two weeks.

The running game and quick movement is critical to playing at Subiaco.

We have been playing over the last two as we did during the preseason at the start of the year. That was the standard I expected during the season but it looked like we played a different game.

Let's not get too carried away. It's been two matches. I'm not going to be convinced that the gameplan has been grasped fully until we play like we have been on a regular basis.

Ive actaully been watching how Hawthorn play ...there are some very similar set ups, like short passes in the backline till it opens up but the fast ball movement & play on immediatley when rebounding is unmistakeably Hawthorns style...
I feel its just taken time for the players to learn to trust themselves & team mates to take risks when the score board is against you...lets just hope the confidence is growing & we dont get the wobbles & revert back into our shells.

Looks to me like the players have grasped the gameplan. I think with having our players playing at East Perth has helped in that we are missing a big chunk of our best 22 and the players that have come in are working to the game plan well.

I was mulling this over last night and I think there is something to it. Blokes on the fringe and coming through are going to embrace the new coaches philosophies with a bit of gusto as it is their best chance of getting in the mix for selection. Our injury woes have likely pushed a few more of this tier of player into the team and combined with the do or die nature of our season for the last few weeks we are having a genuine crack at it across the park. I can only imagine that they have been given more license to take on more risk using the corridor, moving the ball quickly to 1 on 1's and backing their team-mate to win the contest etc.

Getting this level of exposure with Simmo's plan into our depth guys is going to hold us in good stead for next year.

I also agree with this. I don't honestly think our skill level has taken a huge jump in the space of a couple of weeks so there is the balance of confidence and pressure to weigh up. I'd like to see us perform with the same polish against one of the top 4 sides and see if we can generate the same space and execution with our structures under top level pressure before getting too excited.

I was just having a quick look through the WC official site & noticed a story about Woosha's footy clinic day down at some junior Mandurah Footy club ... He was in the normal WC coaching atire and talking all things footy .......is it just me or is this a bit weird ???
I wonder what Simmos thinking having the old coach hanging around & involved down at the club or Im I over thinking this ???

Overthinking a little. However I agree he has been too close for comfort really. I know he means a heck tonne to our club but it would have been good if he cut all ties this year. There's still too much new Woosha stuff on our website.

That said he was a footballer and a coach so his whole wardrobe is probably full of Eagles kit and nothing else.
