Official injury list (10) released 20/8

Season (10) :
• Noah Long (Knee)
• Elijah Hewett (Foot)
• Tyler Brockman (Ankle)
• Callum Jamieson (Ankle/Knee)
• Dom Sheed (Foot/Hamstring)
• Luke Edwards (Concussion)
• Josh Rotham (Abdominal)
• Tom Barrass (Back/Hamstring) - Was 1-2 weeks
• Jeremy McGovern (Thumb) - New
• Jamaine Jones (Concussion) - New

It’s the last game of the season so all players are now listed as out for the season

Chesser and Burgiel have both been removed from the list after recovering from their respective injuries

Andrew Gaff has retired and won’t be available to play

He won the hitouts against a guy three inches taller, and got pantsed around the ground by the all Australian ruckman whose actual absolute strength is his ability to get around the ground.

Fancy an account bet? Williams goes out with a groin injury within a month of Flynn’s return, I delete my account, he doesn’t and you do?
I highly doubt Eagles will say he has OP in public is the main issue but am happy to admit we will announce him out with the old managed tag a few times this year to give him time to rest his groin issues. Id say comfortably he misses 2 + games under that tag given his inability to run on the weekend.

So he won’t officially ever be said to have a groin injury, even though you insist he has a groin injury, but he may be said to have an injury a couple of times later in the year.

Really backing your intel there.

Basically this. I dont trust we will ever be upfront in the media about a players injuries because the club dont want to answer the tough questions about it.

Oscar Allen went from bone brusiing on Tuesday, to cartilage damage quite quickly with the club providing zero explanation on how they got that wrong for example

Sometimes you can only see cartilage damage on a knee arthroscope that wasn’t visible on scans. Have you considered that?

Which is basically the explanation they gave.

That all happened over a couple of days. They’ve actually seemed to be fairly upfront about this stuff this year. (Apart from the groin injuries that no one knows about except for those with super secret inside knowledge that’s definitely not completely made up)

The club didn't get anything wrong. Dumb language. An orthopaedic surgeon (not even the club Dr or staff) made a revised diagnosis with more information.

So in the next month we should have access to Ryan, Culley and Sheed?

Handy options at least

On SM-S908E using BigFooty.com mobile app

And Burgiel and A Reid back into the WAFL too. Ryan, Culley and Sheed increases competition for spots which is a good thing. Allows some of the young guys a run in the WAFL if they aren't hitting form in the AFL.

Jake Waterman was on SEN this morning with Gossage

No mention of any injury (wasn’t even brought up) and sounded like he was fully expecting to play

And, unlike Brockman, he hasn’t flown home

Oscar Allen Knee 8-9 weeks

Rhett Bazzo Groin 6-7 weeks

Tyler Brockman Concussion Protocols 1-2 weeks

Coby Burgiel Appendix 4-6 weeks

Matt Flynn Knee 5-7 weeks

Elijah Hewett Foot Post-bye

Archer Reid Knee 2-3 weeks

Liam Ryan Hamstring 1 week

What was initially described as a 'hotspot' in Sheed's foot in early December has now turned out to be an 18-week injury by the time he returns through the WAFL this week.

It was fairly obvious from how gradual his progress was during the preseason, but it seems like we've really taken it slow with his recovery from this injury.

Given his history with lower leg issues hopefully this has given him some better conditioning than previously and we've set him up to get through a full season without any further interruptions.

For Culley it'll be more like 48 weeks which seems to be a fairly standard recovery time for an ACL.

Definitely can't say we've rushed him back - in fact judging by his progress over preseason he's been raring to go for quite some time now and we've taken a really measured approach with his progress.

He's put in an absolute mountain of work over summer, some of which I was able to see in person at training, and he well and truly deserves a good run at it now.

Just looking on the AFzl injury update.

Interesting Richmond has 13 players listed as injured. Plus Baker 1 week suspension.

Two key injuries from last week in Lynch and Baltor the ruck.

Thats close to what we had last season.

Yes, Richmond has been hit hard so far this year.

Puts a big spotlight on next week’s game. Here, Richmond second travelling game in a row, likely to be without key players…

A winnable game. We would want to show something, for all of our sakes, but the coach in particular. The noise will build if it is a disappointing loss.
