Official injury list (10) released 20/8

Season (10) :
• Noah Long (Knee)
• Elijah Hewett (Foot)
• Tyler Brockman (Ankle)
• Callum Jamieson (Ankle/Knee)
• Dom Sheed (Foot/Hamstring)
• Luke Edwards (Concussion)
• Josh Rotham (Abdominal)
• Tom Barrass (Back/Hamstring) - Was 1-2 weeks
• Jeremy McGovern (Thumb) - New
• Jamaine Jones (Concussion) - New

It’s the last game of the season so all players are now listed as out for the season

Chesser and Burgiel have both been removed from the list after recovering from their respective injuries

Andrew Gaff has retired and won’t be available to play

Two best 23 retiring (not counting Naitanui as he didn't play) and six on the sidelines probably doesn't help matters
I think the type of players we currently have on the injury list is what is hurting most.

Oscar - no brainer, but we need him to be half competitive in our forward 50
Flynn - Although not in top echelon of rucks in the comp, was going to be so important for the way we structured up this year. Really looking forward to him getting on the park
Hewett - One that all fans were really looking forward to watching his progress this year
Bazzo - Again one who would have been a good chance to be playing to start the season, and alongside Gov and TB would have excelled as he did in year 1.
Burgeil - Would have likely made debut last week or this week had he not gone down.
Ryan - An excitement machine and again so important inside forward 50.

100%

Though after seeing our F50 delivery as well as Brockman, I'm interested to see if Ryan plays up the field a little more.

Certainly doesnt help but we really shouldn't be so completely uncompetitive so often. There's more to it than just injuries.
Yeah, there is. Our current best 23 is above 30, under 21 or isn't/barely AFL quality.

Allen and potentially Ryan our two biggest outs given our inside 50s have been pretty good but we just can't convert

Other than sending Williams forward more it's debatable whether Flynn will make all that much difference given our clearances have actually been pretty good this year so far. (Still think he's a good signing fwiw)

Of those only two players are proven commodities, Oscar and Ryan.

I know the Eagles and people on this board are talking up Flynn but let's be real - he has yet to play a game for us and has been a backup ruck his whole career behind Mummy and Briggs. Not saying he won't make a significant impact but on current evidence it is a leap of faith as opposed to a sure thing.

The others are young players and I'd argue that on exposed form only Hewett, injury permitting, is a sure thing for a long career

Arguably 2 of our most important structurally, in Allen and Flynn- Allen + BW being the 2 big targets in f50 that would make our errant i50s look ok sometimes

Add sheed to that . Probably our best wingman . Bit sad but its true

Maric with broken ribbs and punctured lung .
Eight weeks at a guess .

Tough game for forwards ...

In all honesty thats a pretty positive result although it's painful as shit. I was genuinely worried he may have done a kidney. I punctured my lung that way many years ago, knee into the floating rib into the lung.

My brother had a ruptured spleen in a similar fashion. Not a great outcome for Mari(C) at all but not the absolute worst.

McGovern had his ribs broken by Jeremy Cameron’s knee in R14, 2022 and missed the rest of the season

Just as our injury list was getting down to something almost manageable

I was surprised they were talking punctured lung/broken ribs. Looked lower around the kidneys.

He might find he’s pissing blood tonight or tomorrow, was a solid knee right in that region.
That's what I was thinking, I hope they actually checked him over properly 🤔 I don't have a great deal of faith in emergency departments these days.
