I thought I would start a thread for BFers to post their observations of players in the lower leagues as info for others. Hopefully we have a few PAFC supporters watching the VFL/WAFL to make a few comments.

Watching the CD v Sturt games today I was impressed with Ben Hansen. A neat, good ball handler with a great long kick from the lineHB. He is 20yo and 177 and from Tailem Bend. I would consider for a rookie listing.

Freo do this well, with Muzungu, Lower and Barlow leading their possession winners last night.

Spurr picked up 37 disposals for Centrals today and the perennially overlooked Daniel Havelberg kicked 6.1 from 7 kicks.

Macca19 mentioned Alex Grima from the Port v Glenelg game a couple of weeks back. He looked alright that day. Has a bit of dash.

Havelberg strikes me as your typical spoonfed state league bully, a la Richardson, Schell, Chambers or the current fatty at Strut.

Lee Spurr has been invited to the SA Draft Combine.

My man!! Been on the Spurr bandwagon all year. Will hurt when he goes with the last pick to another team and dominates.

Brayden O'Hara, Matt Suckling and Steven(?) Morris of the SANFL appear in Knightmare's mock draft. Could we be in for any of those players?

Whoever Macca19 chooses.
If we had Macca19 as the SANFL guru and Porthos for the draft over the last 6 or so years we would be sitting top 4 now.

Lol. It's funny cause it's true.

Whilst I'm an advocate for bringing Spurr on board (we did bring in Phillips and Spurr is a considerably better player in my opinion) the rest of your comment lacks factual merit.

Some people are forgetting how good a player's best is even more judging 3 players who all had limited or no pre-seasons as poor or non-viable options for the future compared to unproven SANFL players.

Let's keep a little perspective here. Michael Barlow's and James Podsiadly's don't pop up every day. State league player performances generally meet a combination of good timing and opportunity. Everyone's rate of development is different.

This is set up to be an interesting pre-season for the Power.

There is a D stewart guy out at North Adelaide kicked 8 the other day, tippet like if he has a fair amount of confidence, if we could teach him to be confident at AFL level :p

i would like to see James Allan giveb a rookie gig is persistant and hus courage also is willing to work hard we lack these attributes

Eagles v Glenelg today.

Can understand why Kennedy is so sought after - for a 17yo he plays with a cool head, uses the ball well and just knows where to be.

Impressed with Chris Hall today - has played pretty well this season and might find his way onto a rookie list. Smart player and makes the most of his opportunities.

Can also see why Aaron Day has been invited to the AFL camp. Strong body, runs in straight lines and is hard at it.

Steve Morris has been given permission to train with Richmond under father-son rules.

Didn't realise he was the son of Kevin.

I thought he was the son of, or related to Geoff Morris.

Former Docker Troy Stribling was best for South in their Friday night game v Eagles and has been invited to the SA draft combine.

Stribling was on Fremantle's AFL list for two years in 2005 and 2006 before arriving at North Adelaide in the SANFL.

But a move to South Adelaide this season has triggered career-best form and seen Stribling become one of the competition's premier on-ballers. The 24-year-old is the SANFL's third-highest possession-winner after Round 20. He has had more kicks than any other player in the competition.

Kory Beard... worth the rookie list in 2012?

Watching him play against Centrals today and he looks impressive IMO.

http://www.portmagpies.com.au/player_profile.php?pid=2450

KP defender
- 21 yo
- 192 cm
- 89 kg

Looks strong and agile, strong marker, good kicking skills, good tackler and seems to make smart decisions.

Anyway know more about him or have other thoughts???

I reckon he is worth a RL spot in 2012.

Re: Kory Beard... worth the rookie list in 2012?

Yeah he has looked good too, but midfielders are easier to find then KPP. That was why I highlighted Beard. :)
