Great read as usual Snoop.

Just to clarify re Brodie Smith, I was under the impression that he has explosive speed and yet you query his pace.

Thanks in advance, cheers.

Before I say this I want everyone to know that I think this is a great effort by the way (for whatever, if anything that's worth), but I have one complaint.

Richmond for mine are good for HBFs. Newman is in a way one, Deledio plays a similar role. Webberley can play HBF and Astbury is a likely type who can play a running CHB. Connors can also play such a role, and it's not a major issue. Our issue down back is that our talls aren't tall and big enough, not our HBFs.

Now if he's best available, maybe. But snoop has him rated between 20-40, and he rates Green similarly, who he calls a genuine midfielder who has pace and is a good kick. Sounds more fitting to Richmond's needs. One of the major areas Richmond needs is down forward, Maybe Fasolo.

I think we may take Cripps I have no idea either way, but the HBF line is not the biggest issue. The biggest demands are 1. outside mids, 2. improving our midfield rotation as a whole, 2. HFFers, 3. rucks, 4. key backs.

Very impressive effort. Just to clear up afew errors for you ..Jacobs will go to 12,Mickie,otten will go much later, Gordon has been assessed as too slow(3.20) 20 metre sprint and will not be drafted.

Puopolo from sanfl will go top 40 and Reilly from the dragons will go top 50.

Also there is an ammo player who will go as well around mid forties.
Siposss will be gone by 40

Some good points there rock.

Tend to agree re pupolo.hard to believe snoopy missed him.

Have also heard Gordon been crossed off due to lack of speed and presto detonate top 20.

Who is the ammo player?

If it makes you feel better, I rate Cripps higher than most mock drafters on BF. I think he is more than a HBF, I like him in the forward line and is a lovely mark and has explosive speed. I also like him in traffic, just seems to find time.

So in my eyes it is not a terrible pick, I think he will add to your midfield rotations, just not an inside mid.

very good effort, just a personal opinion, but i think Melbourne will go best available at pick 12, and then tall at pick 32, with hopefully Luke Mitchell being available at that time...
just because under Prendergast we have generally gone best available or very close to the best available

Hmm, it does make me feel better. :thumbsu: Cripps would be probably used as a HFF/outside mid then though, if he can play that position, then I'm all ears.

I just dislike the notion of getting a running back, who, at 182cm isn't even 6 foot and so would be purely as a small defender/HBF, which isn't a major problem for us. If he can play a SJ or an outside mid role then that would be sweet. A good HFF and Gaff/Atley/Polec/Heppell would be juicy.

Impressive Snoop. Thanks for the run down :)

If Bennell/ Day were to slide to pick 4 you can be certain that West Coast will pounce on them. Highly unlikely that Day wont be selected by Gold Coast but and even less likely that Bennell will last.

So pick 4 as you can see i'm more interested in Gaff than Polec, Heppell or Atley. The talk pre draft is West Coast are into Gaff and i think he fits our needs really well. Really good chance to get early senior exposure especially with new sub rule.

Pick 26: Josh Green or a local draftee. Green will be a handy pick up uif he can slide that far. Think Brisbane's pick 25 might pip our pick 26 for him but. Out of the locals my first preference is Conca if he can slide that far, next preference Hamp, than Cripps. I rate Cripps very highly but we are getting a similar player in Brennan under father/ son later in the draft

Pick 28 (Priority) Depends what happens with pick 26. Again a local player would be great. Hamp if we dont get him at 26 is option 1 or Cripps if we are interested.

Not sure exactly which picks we have after pick 28 but i think we will look out for the best available needs based players or upgrading rookies. Hopefully another ruckman in the mix to. There will be some upgrades with Strijk and Wilson. Depeneding on what happens with list management hopefully we can elevate Hams and or Stevenson to

One certainty is Jacob Brennan with our final pick

Well done Snoop. Excellent read as always.

One question, doesn't Geelong have a priority pick also? They traded one to GC but shouldn't they have the second one straight after GC? Sorry, I may be missing something.

Cheers

Great read as per usual Snoop.

What are your thoughts on Lycett? :p

I don't particularly rate Barden, having seen him live a number of times he just doesn't strike me as someone who is capable of filling a KP role in te AFL. As you have said he doesn't have any outstanding athletic qualities and his skills are just okay, the thing he does give is 100% effort. He is a decent size for an under 18 competition but I don't think that will translate into AFL standard performance and IMO is more likely a rookie selection.

I think you under rate Aaron Young's midfield ability and the roles he was required to play for Metro. He had plenty of stints in the midfield and was used to fill roles down back and up forward, I think he will go earlier than that.

It certainly will be interesting to see where some of the mature agers are selected particularly Sewell, Smith and Hartigan. I would love the Blues to give Sewell and Hartigan a chance but would be more inclined to rookie Hartigan if he is likely to last that long. I agree that Sewell would be a good fit for the Blues with his neat disposal, not sure about his hardness at the footy though, can you give me some insight into that?

I think Harper could slide to late first round, he's just not consistent enough. I'm pretty sure in that game where he kicked 4.4 or whatever it was he only had 10 disposals or a number close to that. He is a fantastic athlete though which could see him taken where you have him.

Fantastic draft and one that I always look forward to reading. Great work.

Great read as always.

But as Richo83 said...For Richmond, it seems most of 'our' selections are runners off the HBF, and that's one of the few areas we're OK in. Freeing Lids up to go into the middle, maybe ( but then again, it might be best to leave him where he's played his best footy...), but we don't need that many players to do it.

Nice work, I hope we are looking at Mitchell at 26, could be the bargain of the draft and Eagles need another young key forward bad.

At 28ish we will probably go local with one of Conca/Cripps/Newton/Andreolli etc

Don't see us taking Harper ahead of Watson, or Caddy, or even a quick player like Prestia, or a really skilled one like Pitt.

You are right that we need speed, but we need speed in a genuine midfielder, not a HFF, as we have too many of those players already. In regards to your question at 23 about inside or outside mid, you'll find that will be Wells' call more so than Scott's and he's already made pretty clear we need a quick outside mid, so I think you can rule out Parker on that basis, he's not the right fit for our midfield.

I think you'll also find we'll end up using picks 57 and 58, I'd wait for the list lodgements before you assume we won't.

I love the fact you've given us Litherland though...either he or Delaney would be a perfect fit for our needs.

Anyway, all that aside, you've done really well with the phantom draft and credit to you for your detailed write ups as always, they are some of the best on here.

Suprised you dont have essendon picking up a ruckman. After Laycock and Bock leaving we really need another one. Dont know if we would talk two talls forwards with Joe Daniher coming next year via f/s. Also bit scared about picking up a tasmanian as they havnt seem to come good for us.

I think he is a f/s selection in 2012 from the reports I've heard?

Rankine is surprisingly low. I’d love Collingwood to take him as a forward.

Not sure we need Chalwell and Frost. One tall defender is probably enough.
Pretty tall backline already with: Presti, Tarrant, Reid, N.Brown, J.Anthony.

Hibbard is interesting and didn’t expect that. Not sure we need a HBFer, but certainly fits our plans for immediate players and could play a midfield role. If we like him no reason why we won’t take him.

Interesting you have Gaff and Crocker joining Daniel Jackson at Richmond who is also from Carey.

Pretty consistant overall with Chris25's draft and mine. Not too many unexpected ones. But your notes are first rate and easily the best published so far.

Great draft again Snoop. :thumbsu:
