Phantom Draft Snoops Annual Mock Draft..

You said Kruse was unlucky not to be selected but you selected him just to let you know...and do you think that all those guys you mentioned that were unlucky to miss out will go in the rookie draft.

Just wondering if you think Richmond would be reaching by taking Pitt at 6? I'm of the belief that we need an outside option and Pitt strikes me as the type we should target, i.e. has great footskills, finds space and can break lines.

Brilliant read as always. One of the annual highlights of BigFooty for mine. For quibbles I reckon North will go with an outside quick mid first if possible.

Thanks pal
FWIW I just thought Cook was to good to pas at your first round. Many think he just plays fwd but has shown great versatility. I think the quality of outside mids in the draft is average and Smith is as good as anyone.

Very impressive effort. Just to clear up afew errors for you ..Jacobs will go to 12,Mickie,otten will go much later, Gordon has been assessed as too slow(3.20) 20 metre sprint and will not be drafted.

Puopolo from sanfl will go top 40 and Reilly from the dragons will go top 50.

Also there is an ammo player who will go as well around mid forties.
Siposss will be gone by 40

Thank you
Jacobs may well go at #12 but I think dees should go for a tall as they have plenty of mids / utility types. To me a ruck or tall fwd makes sense but to be fair dees usually go best.

Otten and Gordon are both players who just as easily be rookies.

I know Puopolo is in the mix and was one of 5 who have dropped off the bottom. I know Dogs are keen but he is a 175cm / 22yo back pocket type so thought he was late to rookie.

Sipposs is a big call given testing. As mentioned had him bracketed with a few others but he just got edged out. If Sipposs goes top 40 this draft is going to be a headspin

Thanks for heads up though / comments

Well done Snoops. I like your Brisbane selections. Well reasoned. Just a small observation for the Lions.
In your description for Prestia you have us taking Polec yet you have picked Heppel. Did you change your mind and forgot to adjust down the line?
Also, you have us taking almost exclusively Victorians (Tape the exception) and majority metro guys. Historically Brisbane does not recruit from Melbourne Metropolitan teams. (Bad history of loosing them or paying extraordinary salaries to keep the Vic clubs at bay. See Riska)

However we love our Vic country boys. So Heppell is a monty.

I suspect in the real thing our picks will be much more diversified selections and coming from all parts of Australia.

Great job.[/QUOT

Thx pal
I did change my mind. Originally had Polec at 5 but swapped them. Didn't take into account regions pal but the logic for why they don't is interesting

Selection # 32 (MELBOURNE)
Cameron Guthrie – Calder Cannons / 186cm /79 kg

I'm surprised Essendon supporters haven't picked this up. If Guthrie slipped this far, Essendon would be drooling and i'm sure they would take him. Along with Caddy, this would fit their needs to a tee.

Would also love to hear your thoughts on Wallis and Libba.

Gosh your phantom drafts are darn good though Snoop.

Haven't read it all yet, but Luke Thompson will be upgraded as a rookie instead of Schmidt, has been confirmed by the club. Looks pretty spot on so far though, and a nice summary of Sebby.

Fantastic read:thumbsu:
I look forward to your draft every year, and yet again I haven't been let down.

As for West Coast's picks, the general consensus is we'll take one of Gaff, Polec or Heppell at 4, a speedy OM at 26/28, and a tall at 26/28. So you covered that. I'd personally be very happy with Luke Mitchell at 26/28, but he told me himself WC had not spoken to him. At 28, if Cripps is available (which I dont think he will) I'd be shocked if we passed on him. And I think we'd be more likely to take Andreoli then Newton. Were also very keen on Chalwell at 28, and Menagola's another smokey. We'd definitely take Darling if he makes it to our pick 26.

And this is why I did mine early. There just isn't any point in trying to follow Snoop.

A bit disappointed neither von Bertouch or Sippos got a spot in your draft, I do like that you mentioned Kirk Ugle and Ken Campbell in your unlucky section though.

From a Fremantle perspective, we are overflowing with attacking half backs. I do like Batley on a wing or even playing deeper in defence, and his speed would be a more than welcome addition. If we viewed him as just a half back, then I can guarantee we wouldn't take him. But still, him or Mullet would be a good pick at this stage.

I can now read yours so interesting to see differences.
Massive fan of Ken but just couldn't get him in. Interested in your view but didn't seem to return from injury as well and gulf between best and worst seems big.
Sipposs I like but prefer mellington and Johnston. Macdonald worthy as well.
Batley will push up to a wing in my view

Nice looking draft for the Saints, would be rather happy with that. Not sure if St Kilda will draft three players, especially if we do promote Tommy Walsh since we've already committed to elevating Tom Simpkin, but would certainly be happy with Lycett and Michie.

I think I mixed with walsh with simpkin

Brilliant read Snoop, nice to see Casley gets a nod. 8 goals in two VFL games should get clubs noticing him (Dons & Port already at least).

Seeing where Puopolo goes will be interesting too. Glad we picked up a key back to try and develop in your mock.

Yeah he hasn't got many wraps has he but those two performances were good. Lyon is another who took his chances at VFL level.

I know Puopolo had a great finish but I didn't have him as a cert to be taken. Mature age SANFL players unfortunately haven't a great success rate. Might squeeze him in late

Great read as usual Snoop.

Just to clarify re Brodie Smith, I was under the impression that he has explosive speed and yet you query his pace.

Thanks in advance, cheers.

Thx pal. He is a super player but his sprints were not in the explosive category. Don't forget some clubs put more weight on the testing than others. That's not say crows are one but i know a number treat as just a useful input.

Before I say this I want everyone to know that I think this is a great effort by the way (for whatever, if anything that's worth), but I have one complaint.

Richmond for mine are good for HBFs. Newman is in a way one, Deledio plays a similar role. Webberley can play HBF and Astbury is a likely type who can play a running CHB. Connors can also play such a role, and it's not a major issue. Our issue down back is that our talls aren't tall and big enough, not our HBFs.

Now if he's best available, maybe. But snoop has him rated between 20-40, and he rates Green similarly, who he calls a genuine midfielder who has pace and is a good kick. Sounds more fitting to Richmond's needs. One of the major areas Richmond needs is down forward, Maybe Fasolo.

I think we may take Cripps I have no idea either way, but the HBF line is not the biggest issue. The biggest demands are 1. outside mids, 2. improving our midfield rotation as a whole, 2. HFFers, 3. rucks, 4. key backs.

Good feedback
Logic was that newman, webberley and conners are a bit one paced and I thought you needed a quicker one.....and cripps is good but as you say green could do that.
Delidio, cotchin, Martin, gaff, foley and Jackson all good mids son plenty there.
Steinberg came later but would have prepared a big body fwd but that's I guess why you are keen on miller. Still riewoldt, Griffiths and Steinberg would be 3 nice fwd talks.
Really leaves key defence late.

Some good points there rock.

Tend to agree re pupolo.hard to believe snoopy missed him.

Have also heard Gordon been crossed off due to lack of speed and presto detonate top 20.

Who is the ammo player?

If Gordon misses there are a few behind him I would have thought.
Lots of mail Prestia could be 8

If it makes you feel better, I rate Cripps higher than most mock drafters on BF. I think he is more than a HBF, I like him in the forward line and is a lovely mark and has explosive speed. I also like him in traffic, just seems to find time.

So in my eyes it is not a terrible pick, I think he will add to your midfield rotations, just not an inside mid.

Exactly.....think of Gilbee

Did not fail to live up to expectations Snoop congrats. My thoughts echo those of the other North supporters that have already posted outside mids should be the focus but having allocated I. Smith our way the selection of Cook is definitely justifiable. Once again great job. :thumbsu:

very good effort, just a personal opinion, but i think Melbourne will go best available at pick 12, and then tall at pick 32, with hopefully Luke Mitchell being available at that time...
just because under Prendergast we have generally gone best available or very close to the best available

When I was doing the order I wondered if Mitchell could slip to melb bc it would be perfect for you blokes. I just couldn't see him going past wce unless they have hamp higher though. I think lions and tigers would also be keen on him.
