Great effort to make the 8 but badly exposed in the 2 finals.

Some big decisions need to be made to be honest we overachieved and are nowhere near a flag with this list
We’re a lot closer than you think.

Just look at what we achieved this year.

That really didn't feel like a 5 goal loss. Just really lacked polish and class. Oh and that 5 minutes capitulation was just terrible, a poster, then a turnover that resulted in a goal, then 2 more quick goals where we had just given up. Really should've been closer.

If we can get some more class around the midfield and more importantly the forward line, I think we'll be right up there.

If selection matched that effort, who knows. Brand in would allow Sicily forward and plug one desperate, eye watering hole.
But Sicily never took many contested marks when he played forward.

Clarko coached brilliantly tonight, had us set up perfect and we controlled the game for large large parts, but there was 2 reasons we lost tonight....

1. Selections - Doc, Nash shouldn’t have played. Frawley is horrid, and Ruff is finished. What a legend of the club but it’s time to move on.

2. Missed chances - this doesn’t need explaining
**** off. The selections made zero difference. We lacked the class plain and simple and swapping one 25th list player for another wouldn’t have changed a single thing.

I think the game was lost at selection by playing Nash and Duryea. Thought Mirra was not bad tonight but should be moved on end of year.

Going into the game I thought the midfield would cost us. It was actually the forward line. Couldn't take our chances. Gunston wayward tonight but at least 8 shots at goal.

Seriously need to look at the forward structure and avenues to goal. Consider moving Silicy or Burton forward?

Cyril would have been handy. Could have freed Bruest at least

Hawthorns decade old 2 big nemesis come to the fore yet again. Key injuries and poor goal kicking. When are the coaches going to give goal kicking accuracy some respect.
We had a decent year in front of goal really, but picked a terrible time of year to get the yips.

Th glaring holes we had ended up biting us. Lack of a quality key back, lack of midfield depth, lack of a quality key forward.
We had a crack and really had we taken our chances, possibly win it.
McEvoy was great, Mitchell's tried hard, Shiels had a crack as always, Gunston played well just lacked finishing and our defence held up ok.
Young blokes will hopefully learn a lot. Need them too

Blame injury and umps all you want.
We shot ourselves in the foot.
Can’t fault the effort for most of the night but if you can’t kick the goal, you may as well be playing footy on one leg.

Not this shit again.

Players miss shots under pressure. This is not a Hawthorn thing.

We overachieved imo.

Wouldn't put money on us making finals next year unless we recruit some damn good established players.
There’s is no such thing as overacheived.

Need a target up forward so Gunston and Breust can return to secondary roles. Need some leg-speed in the middle / off half back. Need a defender who can take some intercept marks or play a shutdown role. Need better disposal and decision making generally, but the younger players will be better for the experience next year. Not a bad result for a rebuilding year.

Can’t understate the Cyril loss as a whole.
One of our highest paid payers , fit and not playing isn’t an easy thing to cover from a list point of view. Then add his presence on field.
Hence why Nash being a best 22 player for a top 4 team??? Spare me. He will come good but waaaaay too green and wouldn’t have been near that side had Cyril been around.
