With Rabada menace factor a little down, their attack is still very very good when any combination of he, Coetzee, Burger, Jansen and Ngidi are out there and firing. And Maharaj for that matter.

But Nortje gives them something else altogether. His sheer velocity is just something you can’t buy but he smashes the pitch so hard, he’s got that anger in his eye, the ‘tache. It adds so much to their attack.

As someone who doesn't obsessively follow international cricket beyond Australia, watching Nortje fire off last Aussie summer was terrifying. Made a massive fan of me and clearly a lot of the Aussie public judging by the reception he was getting around the grounds.

Plus he gave us the moment of being bowled over by the Skycam.
