Pretty sure all those players listed above have played either VFL of AFL. That's the difference right there
Nothing like a told you so! 2s Hack even you could get a game with the SFL rep side, they were embarrassing. Some of their players wouldn't play ones in other local leagues.

No need for the "I told you so's" as we all knew what was going to transpire. Most thought a 15 goal defeat was par. And no I wouldn't get a game in the rep side but there were a few ?'s on some selections. But good on them making themselves available as several more credentialled players didn't

Like who?

With the season just around the corner, does anyone want to predict how proceedings will unfold? My predictions:

1. Dingley - dominated last year followed by a disastrous finals campaign. Will make amends this year.
2. East Brighton - at full strength a formidable unit, will be there when it matters. Don't have the depth of other clubs.

Daylight

3. St. pauls- will be there about s but can't win it
4. East Malvern- big spenders but won't challenge the top two

5. Cheltenham- the best of the rest, bigs outs and big ins, at full strength will push for top 3

Throw a tissue over 6-10, will be competitive.

6. Bentleigh- better than last year
7. St kilda City- recruits will help but won't make it
8. Mordialloc- will be better than last time in div 1, will survive the cut
9. Chelsea heights- too many quality outs
10. Clayton- div 2 2016

Not sure whether chelt or Bentleigh will be better than last year... St.Kilda city will definitely be better than both on their day.... I think city may surprise a few sides... Which is good, can't have the same sides dominating year in year out.... Can't wait to watch the grand final replay....dingley have a lot to make up for after last year's putrid effort, no point playing the first 18 games and then rolling out a 3 disgusting finals in a row... Lucky enough to win one of them.... However... There's no way you could look passed East Brighton for this year's flag, there recruiting has been spot on for what they've lost.... That's if they've even lost anyone of importance.... Rayson will now be at peak fitness ( good luck finding anyone that can run with him) Heys is a proven gun from edi-asp and tough as they come.... Can't wait for the season to kick off.

Colombian has indulged in too much crack, the saints will not get close this season
7th doesn't seem like a stretch to me.

what teams below them in his prediction do you see finishing higher?
Chelsea hights maybe, if they keep their best 22 on the park. Even that seems unlikely.

Here's the initial squad. Make your own judgement

I don't like this whole interleague set up on who plays who.
I'm from the EDFL and no offence to the SFL but the gap in leagues is to much. The the EFL play the WRFL and again the gap is to much.
So what happens next year. Who is rated no2?

This might be the reason some SFL players didn't want to play. It can't be good for the SFL to field a below par side and also the EDFL who want to play against the best SFL side..

I do however think it's a good idea to play these in the pre season on the good grounds.

I like the Interleague concept however it was flawed before the first game was played last year. The possibility of SFL defeating last WRFL last year was remote however, if they did then they would have played against EFL this year! The fact they played EDFL, a competition with higher quality players, exposes the gap between some of the metro leagues. If city fringe leagues like Casey Cardinia, Riddell and Peninsula were included then the disparity between the leagues wouldn't be as noticeable. I would slot Casey Cardinia up the top, Peninsula mid and Riddell with SFL. (obviously need another league to participate to even out the numbers) I think players would find a larger, more even Interleague competition a lot more worthwhile and motivate the better, absent players to participate.

Peninsula, Casey Cardinia and Riddel take part in the AFL vic country inter league championships

I posted this on the NFL thread with regards to getting people back into footy clubs. Thought I would share my views.

Running footy clubs these days is a bloody tough gig even with a lot of helpers..
I know this is only a small thing but I mentioned on another league thread that I have noticed an increase in beer prices at local footy. Stubby of draught now $4:80. Now I always buy from the clubs but to me this is a bit steep. Does this encourage supporters to bring there own beer, sit on the boundary line and then leave straight after the game? Need to get them into the club and entice them to be involved.

Ideas - Throw on some free finger food at 6:30 so if people have kids they can eat something. Put the lights on so kids can kick a footy as that's what we used to do back in the day. Need to get families back into club footy..
Fri / Sat night $5 kids meals..

Anyway it's just a small thing I've picked up on in local footy in all leagues.

Probably not a bad concept, I agree that the current concept doesnt have enough teams in it to work. Could easily bring in Casey Cardinia who shouldn't be a country league, Riddell and then VAFA B Grade, EDFL Div 1 etc to spice it up a bit.

How about just scrap the city/country divide and have all leagues play each other using the same ranking system used currently in the metro comp.

Imagine how big a day it would be if an efl or vafa rep side went to the bush to play one of the strong country leagues. It'd get a huge crowd. They love their footy in the country.

VAFA rep side regularly plays the full Vic Country side. They beat them in 2013. The second VAFA side lost to the second Vic Country side last year

Didn't know that. Not quiet the same though.

I think it would be very interesting to see where every league in the state ranks regardless of the metro/country alignment. After a few years it would give a pretty accurate assessment of each leagues strength

Heard bentleigh sacked their playing assistant coach last week... Anyone care to comment?
New to the thread. I'm close with a few blokes at bentleigh. I think you will find he quit himself from what I've been told. Dislocated his shoulder a few weeks back and also had a few personal issues.
