Yep. Been a few years since a side came up and was this competitive. With East Malvern up and about the comp has never been more interesting.

Mordy were great, played really well all day. Should make finals on that effort. We were beaten by a better side on the day. All sides have injuries I know, but Geartner, Francis, Freeman, Clausen, Danny Ades and Andrews is basically our whole spine missing. Throw a blanket over 4 or 5 sides this year which is great for the comp. Apart from Chelsea Heights there are no lock in points.

I see St Kilda has pretty much piggy backed onto the SFL, SMJFL redevelopment of Moorrabbin to get out of Seaford.

How is this going to effect the new HQ? it pretty much ****s up any plans to use it as a finals showpiece ground for Div 1 ala the Ammos and Elsternwick park.

Whilst the Saints won't be playing deep into September anytime soon to need it for training, I can't imagine they will be thrilled with local football sides ripping up their pristine training oval for finals, they will also want a cut of anything I imagine...........

Moorrabbin was going to be the saviour of the SFL imo, a central point identifiable with everyone in the area and a place that could of really built some real local memories at a traditional VFL ground, easily accessible by most clubs.

Pity a broke club that can't get their shit together has pretty much ****ed this up completely for the league.

It's Moorabin. The single most identifiable thing about St. Kilda for any saints fan.. We have also got the very very long running lease on the ground from the local council.

Hopefully the league rep team can do a bit of training in the new facilities..

The single most identifiable thing about St.Kilda? It's not even your longest running home ground, Junction Oval was your home ground for almost 30 years longer than Moorabbin was and is actually in St Kilda.......

You also abondened it at the cost of close to $10m to the local government and Frankston council for Seaford and are now abandoning that to go back to Moorabbin after you couldn't get funding for Junction Oval.

Imagine what $10m could of done for clubs like CPL, Mordi, Chelsea Heights, Dingley, Keysborough etc in that region, not to mention the other MPNFL and stand alone junior clubs in the area.

Absolute farce and a really bad result for the SFL

St Kilda have gone from place to place expecting local Councils to foot the bill as they change plans. How long after this investment until they decide they really do want to move to Junction Oval?

All levels of government should stop giving funds to these buffoons.

Get over it boy's seriously all AFL clubs get right of way ahead of any local comp it's a fact of life.

What will the rate payers of Kingston think if the City of Port Philip throw up Junction Oval as an option for the Saints in 5 years, then?

After Kingston ratepayers partially foot the bill to rebuild Moorabin?

I don't care where they are or what they do, just stop spending other people's taxes to do it.

Is there any danger of the highly paid league office getting their crap together and getting teams, ladders. Etc right each week in the record. Also we go to web and look at tribunal results and we have nothing for 2015 FFS. Stop all the chest pumping Cannizzo and get the basic information clubs need. If current media person not up to scratch then get rid of them. To many hard earned volunteers pump all this money into the league for such a sub standard output

Whilst I'm at it, how embarrassing was the footy show this morning. Should be called Amatuer hour. Rattle though the scores with no real comment or an ounce of knowledge. Had some raspy voiced lady doing a 1 minute netball report and the new guy basically puts you back to sleep. Waste of money and time. Get professional, build some knowledge and stop trying to be cute with the important netball league. Get an independent person do netball who is unbiased and can cover it more adequately

Agree. Steve Barnes and the boys whilst not professionals at least had good knowledge and entertained the audience.

Heard they are having shocking year with injuries. 3 blokes went down with knees last week including Gilbert which will be hard to replace. They could miss finals for the first time in while.

Injuries have hit hard, the kids are giving it a real crack and will only get better from the experience.

Tough times but they will be right.

Word around the traps after Saturdays embarrassing loss to city was that Gilbert [ retired ], Merculia [ retired ] and possibly 1 other. Maybe some '' Dessent '' in the camp ????? Agree the kids are trying, but certainly not up to the level at this stage.

that's b.....T, the redevelopment of Moorabbin will be a win win for the Southern League [ new base ], Sandy Dragons [ new training base and facilities for the boys ], SMJFL - [ new base and headquarters, some junior games to be played there as well ] rep teams to train there, finals footy to be played there, and better facilities for the general public. The quicker the better I say .

The Southern Football Netball League Inc. welcomes the recent decision by Kingston Council to commit $5million towards an expanded $29million Moorabbin Reserve community football hub.

The redevelopment will provide a much needed upgrade to facilities for the SFNL, South Metro Junior Football League and provide a base for the Sandringham Dragons. It will also see the return of the St Kilda Football Club to what has been termed its ‘traditional heartland’ at Linton Street.

In addition to contributions from Kingston Council and St Kilda Football Club, the Victorian Government also announced a contribution to the project in its recently released State Budget.

SFNL Deputy Chairperson, Garry Cranny spoke in favour of the redevelopment at several Council meetings and has worked closely with the other stakeholders to develop the concept to its current stage.

“The new concept will be a wonderful addition to the Moorabbin area. It will be the first time that an AFL club, TAC team and community football leagues will share facilities and it will also provide quality parkland with new playground for the local community.” Garry explained.

“It will certainly be a great boost for local community footy with the SFNL being able to make full use of the upgraded facilities providing a quality base for umpire training, interleague training and AFL 9s. It will also become a premium finals hosting venue for the League.”

Further details can be obtained by contacting SFNL CEO David Cannizzo on 9553 5644.
