I think he's referring to Ben Lockwood (his opinion)

I'm sure he's grateful to you for both answering on his behalf and for deciding for him the difference between an assertion and an opinion, but maybe if he's brave enough to make such assertions (or deliver such "opinions") he might be man enough to answer for himself.

I heard he had being re-appointed at Hampton before taking the East Malvern job.

Best of luck to Benny in 2016!

They obviously haven't recruited him for his coaching nous. One of the biggest frauds going around. They must be in a bit of financial strife and hoping he can keep them contending whilst paying some debts.

They will be hard to beat

Houston is committed to developing the youth at St Paul's and as long as that is followed through then I don't see the issue..........he applied for the coaching role and it was discussed at committee level with then a decision being made so he obviously ticks some boxes. The club wouldn't have him if he was going to go out and recruit 5 - 10 blokes on coin as it would destroy the foundation of the club and we all know that.

Those who deserve to be paid and are currently on the list I'm sure will continue to get paid, and no doubt like every club we will need 3 - 4 recruits to keep ourselves in the top 5 pressing for top 2.

St Paul's are a proud club and I don't think you'll see anything change in terms of culture, attitude to playing youth and promoting from within etc.

Financially the club is fine............I would know having been the treasurer for the last few years.

At the very least, his appointment brings some extra interest to the competition.

Lets hope it works out for St.Pauls, not too well mind you!!!

Any other news around the traps? I know the Dingoes are knocking back recruits such is the interest in playing at The Den!

This is a site for rumours after all, ha, i'm not starting them just mentioning what I have heard. Got no doubt the club is going quite well financially but Mercon has kept the recruits rolling in for a number of years now and surly doesn't want to keep tipping in year after year.
I've heard Houston waved his coaching fee and asked the club to spend it on players as well as dipping in some of his own coin. Time will tell once clearances start.
I definitely don't buy the line "he is here to develop kids" His coaching CV suggests he doesn't develop players he buys them. St Pauls have some young guns coming thru lets hope he takes them to the next level.

Merkon are good in the sense that they provide some of our players with jobs, so it's not necessarily money that is being injected into the club but an avenue to get players whilst also giving opportunities to these players for their careers. I think that's a win-win for mine.

Richard is aware of the stigma that is attached to him which is why it was made very clear that youth and development of existing players is very important to the club and future success/stability. He is well aware of this and all recruiting decisions are run past coaching committee and general committee.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the lads go next year........

Only way to see if any of the rumours are true will be when the clearances come through, St.pauls have always been about developing their juniors, couldn't see them shying away from it considering they aren't in any serious danger of facing relegation, it doesn't hurt to have a couple of middle road years, the last thing a strong club like St.pauls would want is for their next string of talent to end up down the road playing for a rival club because of loose spending on some bloke who club hops from year to year.
