Wat

Have you ever had a job interview?
I can't say I've ever been asked to interview for a job by an employer that didn't want to employ me.
Not sure why this isn't making sense to you.

If a club asks a coach to interview there is a suggestion that they see that candidate as being employed in the role.
If the candidate declines to be interviewed then they have knocked the employer back.

Reply with a LOL react if you're still struggling with this easy to comprehend scenario and I'll try to assist.

Ross wanted to coach both Carlton and Collingwood but he didn’t want to go through a proper process.
I don't know how anyone can sit there with a straight face and say that being interviewed by a panel for an AFL coach position is a 'proper process'.

I mean seriously, what in the name of f**k can this panel of randoms possibly expect to find out about a coach's ability during this interview?

It's just mind bogglingly bizarre that people think this is the correct way to find a coach.

I’m morbidly curious to see how this all pans out for the Saints.

Can Ross still coach after three years out of the game?

Is he still going to run a defensive gamestyle?

Think the Saints personnel is going to suit Ross. A lot of unheralded players like Wilkie, Patton. Membrey. Gresham could become an elite footballer in the right system.

They don’t need a huge lift if they can get 10% more out of a lot of their role players, which is where Ross has had a lot of past success.

It’s fascinating. They’ve appointed the assistant coaches before the senior coach is in the chair.

You only do that if you already know who the senior coach is going to be and they’ve blessed the appointment or the incoming coach has NFI. Going with Hird if it’s the latter.

well Lenny was long-range planning, was at GWS pre covid when they made the GF, not sure how much effect that had on their side. Is a Saints man and very well regarded.
Enright, whos been there 1 year and did wonders for our defense.

Lade, tbh not sure what happened there, maybe they didn't rate him and told him to look elsewhere, because the 1st we heard about his departure was from the bulldogs, possibly a causality of the review, but as the fwds coach of the last few years, was in the gun

Batchelor at Sandy appears to be doing decently

who else have we appointed? We still need a fwds coach, which Ross has said he wants input on and probably one of the hold up on the announcement

I think they’re pretty decent appointments. My observation is don’t you let you senior coach make them?

Carlton and Pies probably wanted to put him against other candidates to see how he fares
