It’s they’re as I don’t play for them.
Adam H, you’re up and about after 3 Saints wins on the trot. Still passing yourself off as a Demons fan, whereas in reality you’re a Saints tragic, trolling any Pies threads, after being irrevocably scarred by the 16.12 to 7.10 scoreline of 3/10/2010.

Thought you copped a perma ban Adam H.

Crikey Adam H! Sounds like you’re in trouble with the Big Footy police.

I also have my suspicions about you. I’ve never seen you and pre James Bond Roger Moore in the same photo. Which leads me to deduce that you are in fact…The Saint!

Lol.

The Dogs, I think they've made finals 7 of the past 8 years? Including one flag and a runner up. And just defeated Brisbane.
This has been the narrative hasnt it.

Dogs aren’t playing well and Freo either.

Well both were tipped for top 8 if not top 4, then Essendon were 3rd last night when we played them (although most didn’t have them tipped for finals).

We can only beat who we’re drawn against. Let em bang on about it being meaningless.

What i thought was curious before this season got underway is that Lyon is generally considered a better coach then Ratten yet overwhelmingly most had the saints down near the bottom four.
I also found this somewhat curious that most had us 12th-14th ish and a few lower

But I think it was recognition of

- How good King is, and that he'd be missing for an extended period

- How important Ryder was for the last 3 years and the lack of any replacement in the off season

- The injury list containing about 15 players

Mason Wood looked like a top 10 player in the comp last night, he was that dominant. And I’ve never rated him previously but I don’t watch St Kilda enough.

Saints fans - is he just having some insane purple patch or is this gonna be his long term output from now on?
Its been building for 12 months now, he's been very solid on the wing, but no one predicted him dominating like he has.

Shame he's just found his spot at his age. Should have been up the ground years ago watching him now.

And what a celebration it was

Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did Freddy, thanks for coming champ
Yeah I did, picked up $200 for St.Kilda 1-39, still without doubt the most unsuccessful club to ever exist. You're only one premiership better than The Giants. You've probably not seen your club win a flag either.

Gotta be tough betting against your own side

Oh, that's right, you don't go for Essendon. Just spend your time on bigfooty melting about what a shit show the club is...

At least I've got the balls to admit to following the club I do champion, I don't pretend otherwise. The fact you pretend you don't follow them says enough for me.

Cheers

The fact we still exist is the biggest achievement considering the one flag. We are resilient and Fitzroy, South Melb and even university are dead and Footscray are known as the western bulldogs. I want my club to win a flag as St. Kilda Saints not as Brisbane or Sydney Saints or Southern Saints as it’s not the same original club which I’m proud is still around 150 years later

This excerpt from a recent Greg Baum article wonderfully encapsulates what it means to be a saints supporter:

“That’s the half of it. The other is the born cult figures. Take your bows again Ditterich, Muir, Winmar, Gehrig, even much-loved “Wow” Jones, counterculturalists for football’s Bohemia. You will add your own favourites. Whatever St Kilda have lacked, it’s not characters. There’s always been someone to watch, and isn’t that the point? You see a premiership once a year, but you watch every week. “It’s never been dull, put it that way,” said Holmesby.

So for 150 years, the Saints have bonded in their own way. “Strength through loyalty” is their oft-quoted motto. It has to be; it’s not strength growing out of rampant success. Scoring their devotion always is a kind of wry self-awareness. Other clubs put out premiership videos. In 2004, St Kilda put out one to honour a 10-match winning streak.”
