You think a midfield of Hayes, Goddard, Dal Santo, Ball, Montagna plus specialist taggers like Baker and Jones isn't an embarrassment of riches? Or having a generational forward like Riewoldt at his peak to structure around? Or a 2 goal a game small forward like Milne?

I always felt that RL leaned very heavily on Riewoldt.
There were plenty of games where he was the only effective tall forward.

If he'd had players like Gehrig and Hamil ( both retired before the shot at the flag ) i feel that Riewoldt would have only been better.

If we cut too deep we'll just become North. I agree that there's definitely a decent number of players who will be moved on at the end of the year. Ross has clearly picked a few who he doesn't want.

I don't think saints will cut the list deep. I am not a fan of teams getting rid of 7 or 8 players in one season to use 7 or 8 picks in the national draft.

If the saints are gonna get rid of 8 players this season, 2 or 3 players will either be traded in or brought in as free agents or taken for free after being cut. Then take 5 or 6 picks in that national draft.

Even if Saints did do that, saints still have a better overall squad than North Melbourne.

I wouldn't say we always play attacking, often we are quite pedestrian, but tonight we were attacking and we actually lowered our eyes and refused to long bomb to the goalsquare as the default.

Our midfield is crap and the reason we need to have an off-year to try and snag that top 5 pick midfielder

Richmond timed their rebuild well too. They already stocked up on picks in this 2024 draft. They will get more early picks in 2025 and 2026.

Correct - Geelong, Essendon, Port x2, Hawks and GWS.

Not great but hopefully easier to turn around than if we were losing by 50 every week.
