We'd of course have preferred to win the game, but win, lose or draw and we'd have finished 8th.

It wasn't 'must win' no matter how much you want to believe you changed our fortunes.
Was if Freo didn’t shit the bed.

Was must win if you wanted to not have a nervous few hours

However you wanna flip it my original point was you lost to a 'B' grade list, pretty embarrassing for a team who is meant to be competing for flags according to ur fans

Genuine self righteous clown post.
You’ve just tried to sell me the exact same spin that phantom has, and it’s still as contradictory as ever.

We planned to dangle him(an UFA 😂).
We knew he was going to leave(yet the draft board was full of saints saying he was staying and that they’d upped their offer).
But we didn’t want him to come to the B&F because the players thought he was staying after we’d offered him more money.

Oh and here’s a clip of some other players at another B&F that somehow prove that we were right to not invite him, even though we definitely weren’t angry with him leaving.

Just a pure coincidence that the chairman decided to have a 5 minute sook about how unfair the competition is, and how he’s not going to take it anymore….but definitely weren’t angry with Battle leaving.

Give it away mate - all you are doing is continuing to prove you know nothing about St Kilda.

Bassat has been instrumental in leading the charge to have the F/S and academy rules changed and has been doing so for 12 months more.

It must be an amazing thing to be able to inhabit the post truth world you seem to live in - one where the facts are completely irrelevant simply because you say so.

The Richmond clip is absolute proof why you don't invite players who are leaving the club to the end of year functions.

All I’ll say to the Hawthorn supporters who operate on a higher plane than all of us cognitively challenged Saints fans, is that the league is based around “what have you done for me lately.”

Meaning, the season that you brag about and “felt like a movie”, will mean absolutely nothing to anyone come February. You had no expectations in 2024 and obviously surpassed them. Now, you are on Broadway and everyone is watching. Wouldn’t want to start next year poorly…

That explains why your whole fan base was in tears from Higgins snap, What a goal btw

You almost deprived the entire competition of 60-0 in an elimination final. Shame on St Kilda. Thankfully Port stepped up.

Honestly a good thread topic - is it funnier if Carlton go a half without scoring in a final, or is it funnier if they get knocked out of the finals on the last day of the season after being in the top 4 halfway through the year?

If they play their cards right, I genuinely believe St. Kilda can push for flag in the next 4-5 years. A core of great young talent and seriously cashed up to land some big names. After butchering so many early draft picks they have nailed some recent picks and have even turned rookie selections Sinclair, Marshall and Wilkie into legitimate stars of the comp. Add to that great facilities, great location, great coach and a president with the plums to take on HQ and the have the building blocks for a decent era. Current list has some gaps for sure but IMO they are better placed then those around them to push up the ladder in the next 2-3 years. Having said that they are St. Kilda and always a chance to stuff things up, but they do look like a much better run club these days.

Definitely the former because they broke records from the 70s which are unlikely to ever be broken. Etched into the record books for eternity.

St Kilda did a desperate top up when they should have drafted under Lethlean. Fired him and his cronies, put in Lyon who has built a proper football department and raised standards. They drafted hard and spent FA capital on bringing in recycled players. In the last few years we have righted the ship and have been disciplined.

It’s no guarantee of success but without it we were dead in the water. They’ve actually done well to stay mid tier while re tooling. I’m our biggest pessimist and critic and I’m reasonably happy. It’s a much better path.

It’s so irrelevant in the pro era. We were so poor we were not even in the hunt. Fitzroy is as relevant to the Lions as the pre AFL era is to us. We are historically a shit club but we weren’t playing on a level playing field. We have been pretty crap in the last decade but so were you until recently. Competitive balance should make everyone get a go. They have made it harder but at least we are working at it now.

Wot. No we are talking about the saints beating Carlton which could have stopped them from getting into the finals where they broke records going down 60-0 in the 2024 elimination final against Brisbane.

What would you see as progress this year
Squaring the ledger win/losses or pushing on into Sept?

If we have a fair and reasonable injury run, and we are due, we should be aiming for a finals birth. We need to show improvement to have any chance of landing quality free agents.

Who wouldn’t want to be involved in the next St Kilda flag? It’s the grail.

A really weird post in November.

Congratulations on the win that got you to 12th, I guess?
What I find weird is people carrying on about us winning a game of football. What was the alternative rest a heap players and then have people accusing you of tanking and deliberately loosing. Doesn’t matter what you do sometimes you just can’t win in some people’s eyes

If freo had of won I recon you would be looking back on that game quite differently

And if we had won another game earlier in the year, the St Kilda game would have ultimately been even less relevant.

Hypotheticals are fun.

Carlton knew Freo were going to lose later in the evening?

No, but they did lose. So whether Carlton won or not ended up being completely irrelevant.

I'm not carrying on about you winning the game. St Kilda did the right thing and went out there to win it.

It's just weird to me that someone would think in November that I'm the slightest bit worried about having lose that game.

Like...OK. It ultimately made no difference to us then, and it certainly isn't relevant now.

Why do you keep coming back here and complaining?
Why do you come back here obsessing about the Saints?

Clearly you are infatuated by our great club because you just keep coming back :thumbsu:

You just can't help yourself can you ..... hey its OK because you aren't alone .... plenty of other opposition supporters who like you are completely hooked on the RWnB

Nice to know the Saints are constantly in your thoughts
