Unlucky for him. he was actually quite a good player we just were to harsh on him.

No article ... found out about 3 hours ago from someone inside the club. Don't know the exact details but was told he will be announcing his retirement tomorrow.
what about the other thread that states he was going to be delisted by Carlton????

I am led to believe that if a player is contracted for next year, but is forced to 'retire', most/part of the money he is owed for next year, will not come under the salary cap..
carlton should give him the decency to let him retire
and I agree with that..... not doubting what anyone has reported... just don't know what to believe....as I said....we will have to wait to see what is announced tomorrow (if anything)

I am not sure if he is being pushed but he will retire ... not be delisted
I've always flet that his neck injury held him back, he was never the same after surgery. This is probably for the best - for him as well as the club.

Regardless of what anyone thought of him he's been a quality player over the journey and we're treating him harsher as the improvement in our team grows faster. Solid player for the footy player and am glad that he fell to our hands.

Agree with Warsaw. Unfairly a much maligned Carlton player.
I love his exquisite disposal and his ability to run. If it is true, I wish him all the best for the future and thank him for the time he has given to the CFC.

If he does end up retiring it will definitely be to the detriment of the team. I've no doubt we're a better team with an in form Stevens (as he was towards the end of the season), with his footskills and goal kicking ability.

Sad news if true. I don't think we ever saw his best at Carlton, given that we were always being smashed when Nick was in his prime.

With his body type he probably didn't have that mahy years left anyway, but it is sad to see him go.
I think if you look at him and Scotland, there's a lesson to be learned here. This is a game for professionals and acting professionally will ultimately prolong your AFL career, and the opposite also applies.

He was playing hard during the dark days, I remember when we got to the pre season final he chose to play over his brothers wedding, felt that could be the only time he plays in GF for Carlton...I think that;s committment..feel he never quite recovered from that neck injury. I'm a fan and wish him well.
If this is true, I feel quite sad...
I think with his neck injury we never really saw his best which is a shame, although there were glimpses.
If it's truly because of his neck then it's a sensible decision and I wish him all the best... no sense endangering himself so much at his age just for footy.

Sad news. Despite the occassional question mark over his application, he was one of the only shining lights during our darkest periods. Watching him go round was probably the only thing I enjoyed doing over that period.

Sad if true. I thought he was the difference in the third Q vs the Lions. Realy lit it up and had me hoping of bigger things next year.

Sad way to go out if true, his skills were elite, but in saying that since the neck injury he hasnt been anywhere near his best, when was he contracted til? obviously we will prob still have to pay him out? cos he's on a huge pay packet and it will eventually free up pressure on the cap
