Think it should only be granted to players on under 150k a year though.
There are other approaches that are fair. A fixed component (rental allowance) and a % component (cost of living) like I received when working OS for 4 years. An allowance for moving home would also be worth considering, especially for families.
Paid by the AFL over and above the normal contract arrangements.
Edit: before I saw your post liz

Players who earned under the median (I think) wage already get an extra allowance, paid by the AFL and outside the cap, as recognition of the much higher housing costs in Sydney. I don't know how many in the media know this. Or once knew but forget. It's not exactly a secret.

I think the Swans and Giants are most vocal about wanting a cost of living allowance for the soft cap, pointing to how hard it is to attract quality coaches and other support staff to NSW anyway, even before allowing for how much more expensive it is. There was an article recently about how spartanly some of our coaches live. Ben Mathews, IIRC correctly, lives alone in a basic one bedroom apartment while his family remain down in Melbourne because it's more economic for them.

Yeah much more necessary for the soft cap, agreed.

Why? From memory Dawson highlighted cost of living as one of the factors to move back home. He wouldn't be on aa small wage

The poor dear.

I’m sure this will go down well…

$12million over 10 years for Nuaghton?

Dodged a bullet

He's having a massive year, and he's an incredible player. What dodge?

On the Couch

Discussion about the players talking to each other and asking how they are going. Awesome to hear the players talk to each other and be honest about how they feel with their game.

At the end of the clip there is mention by Dawson wanting to learn from the likes of Heneey and Warner.
