Anyone see the stat that of the 8 Finals wins at the SCG we've won 6 by a goal or less? Utterly bonkers.

GWS 24, Collingwood 22, Geelong 05, Hawthorn 96 & Essendon 96 are the ones that come to mind. What's the other one?

Had to look it up:
Giants 24 (6)
Pies 22 (1)
Cats 05 (3)
Saints 98 (2)
Hawks 96 (6)
Bombers 96 (1)

Bonkers.

Obviously then two bigger wins both in recent years against the Bombers and Crows, and then just the 2 losses.

I have no memory of that saints final at all. Weird.

No way I'd put JJ down the bottom. Wouldn't have won without him in the last 1/4.
Agreed. Didn't completely shut Whitfield down like he has previously (and also let ward escape a tackle and kick a clutch goal) but had enough of his own big moments to call it a good game IMO.

Healy's so chuffed.. love it.

This coming week of Vic media will be interesting...
No doubt Cats and Hawks plaudits will get the majority fill of airtime as expected, plus picking apart Dogs & Blues.

But our final was the only good watch...rest were boring 1-sided duds. So expecting a good follow-up for once this week with only the 4 games played & 2 next weekend to analyse. (Go Port! Then only 1 Vic side [regional] left in finals!)

If not much content, fine - I'll just keep watching that last quarter every night! 🍿

The 2024 edition of the AFL's "Rich 100" list published today

As noted:
The AFL releases the yearly pay breakdown of players and the updated free agency lists to its own media arm each pre-season, looking back on the previous year’s figures.

But it does not publicise the players’ actual pay rates.

The AFL Rich 100 attempts to put those high-end salaries into perspective and to provide context around the most talked-about, speculated deals. It’s not an easy task.

I know - that one is defs a bad call. He's a very cool head when the heat is on and hit showed with that kick.

incredible kick ... and hints of luke ablett last quarter v geelong in that 2005 semi-final, the desperate chase to keep the ball in play, even before he somehow had the vision and skill to find campbell with that kick

I'm not a big Luke Darcy fan but I thought the commentary of the game, especially that last quarter was fantastic. I shudder to think what that pathetic flog BT would have done with it.

he was good, but i think enhanced by calling with jason bennett, who, as others have posted, is clearly one of the best commentators (with brenton speed) in the sport
