No way I'd put JJ down the bottom. Wouldn't have won without him in the last 1/4.
Just another idiot journalist who simply looked at the stats sheet and graded accordingly. Obviously had no idea that JJ's sole role was to reduce the influence of Whitfield. A job he did admirably.

Agreed. Didn't completely shut Whitfield down like he has previously (and also let ward escape a tackle and kick a clutch goal) but had enough of his own big moments to call it a good game IMO.
You are a hard task master. He had 18 kicks half of which were kick ins after we scored a point. He was way down on his game influence.

Real Footy or the Age has a story on the sydney/melbourne rivalry , sadly i can't open it

Some quotes...

In the past "Melbourne was conscious of Sydney to the point of paranoia, and Sydney was scarcely aware that Melbourne even existed".

"But now it’s Sydney that is Melbourne-conscious in the way that Melbourne used to be Sydney-conscious, but is no longer. It’s Sydney that gets its knickers in a knot about Melbourne, and Melbourne that is faintly amused about it."

"Every time the Swans make the finals, which is most years, we here in Melbourne read about how we are both jealous of them and ignore them completely."

"Once, Melbourne craved any sort of attention from Sydney. Now, Sydney dwells on what Melbourne is making of the Swans."

Most of that is bullshit.

We don’t care what Melbourne, the city, thinks about our football. We do care about getting some attention from the AFL media, which is meant to be covering a national competition but which instead pretends it’s covering the VFL plus a few “Johnny-come-latelys”.

Ive been informed by the sports editor of the Telegraph that there is a full page poster of Heeney's mark in this Sundays paper.
He said he will email it to me . With that how can i get it copied and enlarged , unless someone can send me a copy , happy to pay .
He will need to email it to you in the highest possible resolution if you want to enlarge to poster size, otherwise the picture quality will not be great. There are plenty of online printing services you could use (eg snappish, optimal print).

Once again, Melbourne completely overvalues the impact of the AFL.

Even if this didn't completely miss the point that most Swans fans' complaints are about the central AFL media organs generally not giving recognition where it's due, Sydney the city couldn't give less of a shit about Melbourne's opinions of one our football teams.

Weird article. Not sure either city dwells on the other anymore.
