On-Boarding myself into the harshness of BF world,

Reading all the comments about Jordan Dawson & Pt Adelaide, has anyone thought to gather assumption he will be having a medical at both Adelaide clubs, then for the most part are we under a realisation that players are steered by their management who will use leverage at different layers to get their client the best possible contract?

There is a loose rumour that the Adelaide Football club are more interested in developing Dawson into a midfielder and plugging this as a carrot.

Either way don’t think we are far out of conversation for Jordan Dawson however, I also have a sneaky assumption he isn’t our highest targeted player.
Hey there WinzSander *wave*

...which alias are you?

Apparently Dawson to Adelaide has been common knowledge for most of the year. Port have only registered interest late after other potential targets fell through. If we lose this one it’s embarrassing.

He said he had spoken to him, didn't say if it was in person or over phone.
Said "Hopefully he would get the chance to meet him at some stage". He doesn't sound like he would be useful in bringing players to the club and shouldn't go into Recruitment post playing career. Was noncommittal when asked if he would like him at the club. He could have at least said "we're always looking at getting better". He sounds like he couldn't care less who we bring in tbh. I got the impression he is solely focused on finishing his last couple of years at the club and his exuberance for the club has evaporated. Maybe the GF loss and camp fiasco followed by 2 relatively poor years has worn him down. I trust the club got Doedee and some young players to sell the club in a better light. We really need a change of captain this postseason.

I have so say there’s a lot of fuss about a lad who sure had a decent season, but not like an AA season or even the squad. Course he’ll be a handy pick up for the crows who are still a bit light on.

For Port though he’s not going to fix the problems I saw on Saturday night. If Port had him in their team he wouldn’t have made a lick of difference. Much in the same way if Bailey Dale missed the game, it still wouldn’t have made a lick of difference to the result. That’s no slight on Dale whose a very good player.

He’s 3rd in the Swans medal - Keays was runner up in the Crows but people want to trade him ha ha. Fine to get him but he’s not a difference maker, you find those mostly in the top 10 of the draft. The Crows pick at 4 at rhe draft WILL be the most important acquisition of the off season.

He's a cracking player, VERY versatile, has quality disposal and is in the right age bracket for us going forward.

I think one thing people are forgetting is that Free Agency really started to blossom at a time when Port were struggling, had a fair bit of cap space and we were on the 'up' and with probably minimal cap space. Don't get me wrong they've done a phenomenal job at the Draft table, but in trading they've managed to attract players that have either had a connection with their club, they were able to offer more at the time than we were or they fit their list profile at the time. IMO Aliir has probably been the best pick up for them, but this whole narrative that they're a 'destination club' is laughable when you break it down.

Aliir Aliir (2020) - Astute trade but this was a mutually beneficial arrangement with the Swans where we had no draft capital, but also absolutely flush with players in that position already and still with a salary cap hangover from paying other players (Jenkins etc)

Fantasia (2020) - Already on record having told him we weren't keen on trading him

Lycett (2018) - Still had Sauce Jocobs at this stage, and ROB waiting in the wings, also salary cap

Rockliff (2017) - No room in salary cap, and no need for that position with the team we had at the time. In hindsight an accumulator with no real ability to impose himself on the game, and came into the team with cooked shoulders.

Motlop (2017) - Fair enough that i think we were into him, but Cornes added a heavy amount of mayo to the media speculating how much we were offering him, and for how long. In hindsight not a massive loss

Watts (2017) - Deal labelled 'a steal' by Kane Cornes. I agree, highway robbery on Watt's part

Dixon (2015) - At this stage we have a firing FWD line in Walker, Jenkins, Lynch, Charlie and Eddie.

IMO landing Dawson is THE big fish, the biggest in a long time, and a player who blows any of the above out of the water.

footy4ever I think we have another one here.

I suspect a Power supporter too. lol.

I'm just shocked "TheBigCrow" was actually available as a bigfooty username with this site being semi-popular for 20 odd years.

Hell, there's a plethora of new posters. Welcome!

Would it be as embarrassing as Port's prelim finals?

There is a vast difference between rated as the third most impactful player at a finalist, and 2nd best at a team that was competing with the spoon.
Georgey Hewett was a club champion runner up at Sydney but apparently he’s a scrubber ha ha

No argument from me on that but now Dawson has come more into focus late in season 2021 I suspect all AFL teams will also start to put a lot more time into him so it will be interesting to see how he handles the extra attention.
We are gathering a nice arsenal of skilled footballers, and hopefully Milera adds to that as well.

Be hard to stop them all.

Where would you find the time, seems like you’re on here 24/7. What a life.
lol.

I wasnt on here for about 6 months this year.

Secondly for a new poster why are you so salty? Why is your first post in 2021? Emergency "Crows" account set up back then lol. Thats the pathetic part.

Youve been exposed.

To be honest, I like to read this board because I think it provides a good insight from a different perspective. I didn’t think if I posted my opinion I would be slammed.
