Jase Burgoyne...

3. JASE BURGOYNE
(Woodville-West Torrens)
18, wingman/half-back, 186cm, 65kg
RP: 124 (Under-18)

Port Adelaide father-son prospect.

The son of former Port Adelaide star Peter Burgoyne, Jase is more highly-rated than his older brother Trent, who was a father-son selection last year. Very lightly built, he is a tall wingman/half-back who is highly-skilled and a smart footballer like his dad, who was a key member of the Power's 2004 premiership team. Can also play in the centre square and burst away from stoppages. Still raw but has enormous upside. “He’s an elite talent, with speed, acceleration, terrific agility and clean hands,’’ Bamford said. “He can play at the source, behind the source and in front as a half-forward. I think his best football is at half-back and in the midfield and once he gets another 10kg heavier, boy oh boy, he’s that talented he could turn into the next Shaun Burgoyne.’’
Bit of savagery towards Pete at the end. "He's so good he could turn into his dad uncle."

Didnt they only just sign him upa few weeks ago?

Maybe Jack Billings is the new missing piece

Very good? Not sure.

I think he cleans up loose balls well.

I think he chases in a straight line well.

He can turn defence into attack through run, but haven't seen a lot of it this year

I think his body work is probably not a strength.

He's kicking skills needs major cleaning up.

He probably isn't a tight defender in the way Kelly or Brown (in the old days) is

I think he can overcommits as a defender and is someone who can be easily faked.

He's not smart and clean as a defender in the way Doedee is.

So if you regard Doedee as an elite defender, then perhaps I'd put him as good.

Like others I think he could be an elite wingman though. He'd could be one of those wingman that if given space can cause real panic in opposition sides, especially amongst defenders in our forward 50. Yes he could possibly do similar from halfback, but he could be more impactful higher up the ground where his play could lead directly to scoring opportunities, which we so desperately need.

So depends what you'd prefer, I know what I prefer.
Dmac needs a white stick and a labrador. The amount of times he just runs into the oppo as if they are invisible...far out!

Ive watched a bit of him. Will be as good as father and uncle. A ball magnet. Someone has to bid on him.

I just know Luko is ending up at Port. Just our luck. And they'll do a dumb trade that we could have done easily, like their future 1st and bloody Jonas and Powell Pepper for Luko.

If that's the price it'd take to get Luko, Port can have him.

He's a good footballer, though he's never going to live up to his draft reputation. The thing to note is we need to be very careful with our 2022 1st round draft pick. It's going to be another one in the 1-4 range seeing how our list is going to shape up going into next year.

Im not convinced on we will end up in the 1-4 range

Their is **** all between 7th place and 18th place teams, lets not forget we lost games to Hawks, freo and Pies that we should of won

Any of the teams between 7th and 18th spot could either move up or down the ladder in 2022

I dont know.. maybe its got something to do with the praise Roo constantly heaps on David when he’s the commentary boundary rider..

Normally “highly skilled“ is how Roo referred to David after David kicked the ground going for goal on the weekend.. then he again made excuses for David later in the game when he stuffed up..

and these examples were certainly not the first time Roo had praised, or excused davids, actions on the footy field.

Roo thinks David is a gun player.
I didn't read that specifically into his comments. In the context of other things he's said about Mackay (That he's soft and needs to toughen up,) I just think it's more evidence that he's been mismanaged for much of his entire career.

ie. Treated like a skillful player who needs to toughen up, rather than a fit and (mentally) tough player with unreliable skills.

There is a lot of hype around Luko however for me.the jury is out on him as a player

Jack Watts had massive draft wraps on him, I see a lot of Jack Watts in Luko especially early in Watts's career

I just sense that Luko could end up being one of those frustrating players

I think I made a post about he and another - just dominated his age level but also had the traits you like to see

"It's the vibe"
Re Horne-Francis, Fabian only played 86 games for Port so presumably no step father-son. I also suspect that he would prefer not to have the publicity given that he was given 4 years (min 15 months) jail for repeatedly knocking the living sh.t out of his indigenous ex-wife.

Should the Crows happen to draft Horne, accommodating convicted DV perpetrator Francis would likely be a moral challenge for our club.

Also, if Peter Burgoyne and Adam Heuskes 2000 parklands rape charge (with outspoken Mickey O as an alleged spectator) been able to proceed, he might not have got to 100 games for his son to now be eligible for father-son. From memory the alleged victim got a handy $200K from the 3 of them to sign a strict confidentiality agreement about the matter.

Tex seems an angel in comparison.

Can’t believe we are not replacing McKay with ten goal Tommy as AFL sub/ WFL asst coach / mentor to draftees. It would be great for our soft cap. I guess we are giving him the opportunity to get some coin elsewhere for a couple of years before he comes back.

Mountain Dew should be straight on the phone.

another 9 coaches votes on the weekend

dude can play
Yep.. if he came at very little cost, say melbournes second that we have, I’d be happy to have him..

But I doubt thats all the hawks would accept for him.

I cant believe with the state of our current midfield people would say no to Wingard.

If Picking a team.. in the CB’s I’d have..

wingard

He should work in sanitation because he’s forever getting cleaned up

now - to be fair - she was a corrupt cop selling confidential information to bikers, so it all works out in the end

Taylor is an adult

there’s no proof of that
