Do these journos do any research? Brad has said multiple times he will very happily stay if our offer was comparable with others, and there is no way we are offering less than he is currently on! Seriously, what a pointless article.

Well JayZee says it so it must be true.

I look forward to the quality trade because if we let Brad go on a poultry contract like that we would be loopy.

That type of deal puts him in the ballpark with someone like Mackay a few years back, just a seriously poorly researched article as there is no way our offer would be less than what Crouch is on now. Geelong aren’t that stupid to offer that amount either, they know it would get them laughed out of the room.

Haha yeah Brad's not going for $400,000

The only issue for Brad is Covid-19 caps and list sizes, if the salary cap is less, will the AFL scale the compensation to match?

The drug thing won't be an issue, every club out there knows that many of their players will have done the same thing at least once and just not got caught.

These deals are basically already done and have been for weeks FFS. If it was 450k we would've just matched it already. Just ignore their rubbish.
The thing these idiots don't realize is just how good a deal it is for the Crows to sign Brad Crouch to $450k/year contract.

They are so concerned with getting their precious Victorian teams a good deal that they completely forget that we would essentially pull off the AFLs biggest ever underpays to match that bid!

I mean that's so low that I would actually feel a bit guilty if we only paid Brad $450k. To quote the Crowject Podcast "Oh its a bit of a slap in the face"

more importantly if BRAD decides to go there for around $450K per year then he has some screws loose - let alone whether we would match a bid or not etc.
My understanding is that Brad has indicated that he is more or less happy to play anywhere (including here), as long as he gets the right $ amount.

This would be the polar opposite of that, so yeah. Total BS

If that was the max offer from any club, including us, he will stay as he’s stated on several occasions now.

thats cos hes not going to the cats
just like cameron not accepting 700 from gws
at 450-600 adelaide simply match it. these guys who make this shit up don't understand basic maths.

at 450 we can easily give him 6 years even if he doesnt pay the last two years. its just laughable

On the headline of that article as well on Jeremy Cameron: Surely anyone with half a brain would see that looking at list age profiles and young talent the giants are in a MUCH better flag position than the aging Geelong.

If the Cats are interested in Brad Crouch for $450k, then all that means is the Cats are not interested in Brad Crouch. Plain and Simple!

Actually he said he’d rather go to a club with a chance, for less, than somewhere not contending, on more money (obviously there’s a limit)

I'd think if that is the sort of money being bandied and I don't believe that for one second, then he and his management would have taken a big hit to their ego's and he would be itching to get a contract signed with us

I've heard his actual feelings are substantially differently to that. Source certainly isn't 100% reliable, but they would have no reason to make it up (WC supporter living in NSW).

Is he getting Atkins and Brad Crouch mixed up?

Even if that's actually the case, we can match it easily - I'd happily keep Brad at $450k a year. If it goes to a trade then Geelong have 2 firsts - their own and West Coast's from the Kelly trade last year. We take both of those firsts and trade up with one of the other clubs trying to trade down for points. Wouldn't get us to pick 2, but should at least get us another pick somewhere near the top.
