Hope the Hams deal goes through. He went to school with a mate of mine and apparently recently considered giving it away due to lack of opportunity, and not wanting to just be a bits an pieces player.

Definitely worth persevering with, can't expect us to have dream injury runs every year.

I have mentioned before that i think mcgovern can become a better version of a beau wilkes utility type and will hopefully end up at CHB. He has a good leap, reads the play quite well and has really good hands. His inside awareness needs a bit of work and he needs a lot of work on his fitness. His fitness levels are similar to where cox was when he came to the club.

With mcgovern he really is coming from a very long way back and is the definition of a project player.

Hold on there Phil, McGovern a backman:eek:, don't be silly, Prangster has him [pencilled...... no inked into being a forward so there is no chance that he might be utilised as a backman.

I mean thats just silly, what AFL player starts as a forward in his youth and then becomes a backman, I mean really thats just silly and we obviously don't know anything about how the game is played or how players are developed.

Players like Tarrent, Lepitch, Hunter and lets not forget Mitch Brown are all figments of our imagination and never really existed, they were always backmen. And what coach would take a young forward and convert them to a backman, Worsfold would never entertain such a thing now would he.;)

Give it a rest Obeanie.

You described McGovern as a "project CHB/ruck". Prankster pointed out that he hasn't been playing back, correctly. Leave it at that.

This is all academic in any event. Our past history and common sense would strongly suggest that we won't be entertaining any trade offers for Brown unless he goes to Woosha and says he wants out, and there's no indication he's leaning that way at all.

I wish my tolerance for stupidity was as low as yours is for childish behavior, so I wouldn't need to respond to the suggestion we should trade Mitch Brown at the age of 22. If we put him on the market we would get a call from every single club within 24 hours.

Good, that means we'd have a great chance of landing the skilled goal kicking mid we still need.

So we need Mitch to handle the gorilla forwards. Hows he done to date on those types?

How did Hawthorn go last weekend with Dawes and Cloke? Hawks were seriously short down back and were definately "punching outside their weight division".

At the end of the day they were unlucky only to lose by 3 points against two monster forwards without even one monster KP backman. I wonder if their gun midfield had anything to do with keeping them in the game.

Darling playing the Hunter attacking CHB role is stupid is it?

Does that make Adam Hunter stupid or Worsfold stupid for using Hunter in this fashion?

So how would you use Darling, as a midfielder or permanent forward?

We have Kennedy and a developing Lycett as future KP forwards along with Lynch for however long he can stay fit / in form. The fact is Darling can play effective roles down the field and with Lynch, Lycett, Kennedy and a resting Cox / NN up forward are we getting the best utilisation out of Darling as a forward or HFF?

IMO Darling as he develops can become the perfect swing man and also game day insurance policy in case you lose a KP backman to a game day injury. Playing him "behind the play" and across half back would mean he would start getting more of the ball, 25+ posessions and 2-3 goals as an attacking HBF or CHB is not out of the question. It also means you can mix up your forward rotations and start running a Weedon, Hams, Sheppard type through that HFF position Darling currently takes.

But as you said all of this is just stupid and Mitch Brown is the mesiah and the answer to all our problems.

Never said he couldn't be a backman, only pointed out to you that he hasn't been playing as backman. We could make anybody a backman if we get into trouble, which we probably would if you were left in control of our list management.

So we trade Mitch Brown at years end leaving us with Glass, Emac, Schofield as our three genuine tall defenders. Looking to the future Glass could very well play only 1 more year, depending on how his body holds up.

So if Glass and Emac got injured next year at the same time, possible given their injuries over the last two years who will partner Schofield up against Cloke, Dawes and Jolly? Schofield, Lycett and Mcgovern? LOL.

Give me a break. We would have to go to Obeanie Emergency Plan A and switch Lynch and Darling down back to cover the lack of key defenders we have on our list because we traded out Mitch Brown. Or would the key defender you wanted to draft this year step up in his first year.

If you think our club will trade away Brown this year you have no idea.

Not going to argue this point anymore, I have made my point perfectly clear, if you don't agree then so be it.

Personally, I was disappointed when we drafted Brown, but to trade him now, at 22 and with the injuries he's had wouldn't be the best idea. There's almost 40 spots on the list, he can fill one. We have enough excess in other positions to try and get a trade done.

Leon Davis for A Strijk.

Gets Davis home where he wants to be, gives us a half back flanker to take the pressure off Hurn a bit. Collingwood gets a younger guy who has the potential to be best 22 but just needs a bit of change of scenery, plus he wouldn't be paid as much and it might make that a bit easier for Collingwood to stay under the salary cap.

I'm in the keep Strijk camp. Unless WC get a genuine crumber who's consistently best 21, I'd like to see Strijk as Nicoski's eventual replacement.

People have forgotten how little injuries we did have this year. Would like Goldsack because he can play a bunch of roles. Need to keep Strijk, Nicoski might not be able to follow up his form this year.

Who are the potential mature age recruits we could look at from the WAFL ? If any.

Kyal Horsley, Tom Lee, Alroy Gilligan, Brendan Lee, Aaron Sweet?, Nathan Blee, Jason Bristow (has some disposal issues I know), Luke Blackwell, Corey Dellolio (sp), Blake Broadhurst, George Hampson?, Kieran Butcher, Mark Hutchings

Just to name a few

Dont understand the love for Goldsack, he is pretty ordinary IMO and is either a defender or tagger, something we have no shortage of. Made to look okay in a great team, was absolutely terrible the other day when they were flogged by Geelong.

I have no idea who most of these guys are so if someone can say if there is any kpd (another H Taylor even) it would be great.

Does GWS have the same thing as GC did where they can trade players who have previously nominated? Like Freo and Mzungu?

So what are our best options for a true, crumbing forward at this stage
Josh Hill -No Thanks
Walters - Potential
Colyer - Uncontracted. Possibly not a true crumber.
H.Bennell/ B.Matera - Would be nice. Could get used to seeing a Matera out there again.
Or do we stick with the development of Hams/Broome/Weedon?

Yeah GWS do have the same scheme.

Ok here is my best shot at explaining the players.

Horsley - Mid-sized inside and outside mid - can kick goals
T Lee - KP can play anywhere really, has come on this year
Gilligan - Speedy mid/forward in the Rioli mould
B Lee - Mid who has racked up some big numbers after coming through the ressies
Sweet - HB/Mid, highly toughted last year, was ok this year without being as good
Blee - KPD Don't know a lot about him though
Bristow - Inside mid, gets a lot of hard ball
Blackwell - Mid, Rolls-Royce midfielder, racks up huge numbers
Dellolio - Mid-sized forward who can crumb and take a grab, kicked a few goals this year
Broadhurst - Mid-sized forward won the Bernie Naylor medal, just checked his height which is 190cm which isn't too bad, seems shorter than that?
Hampson - Young small forward came into the Subi team late kicked a few goals in their Preliminary final
Butcher - Inside mid, 18s captain last year but didn't get picked up, played well in the WAFL this year
Hutchings -Inside mid, also captain of the 18s the year before, had one year at St Kilda, got delisted, came back and had a huge year in the WAFL

Hope that helps!

Didn't Worsfold say there would be minimal changes? Can't remember where but I definately read it somewhere.

That would suggest something along these lines.

Ret B Jones

Upgraded Hams

Demoted to rookie list Neates or delist Dalziel

Delisted off rookie list JON and Houlihan.

That would mean using 2 picks in the national draft and 1 or 2 rookie picks.

Is this too few changes?

IF this is true then I wouldn't want him on our list or anyone else who wants the throw the towel in after one tough year selection wise. Why he'd feel this way is beyond me tbh tho.
