Hawthorn GWS terrible... Less than 100k nationwide?

Would have drawn almost no-one outside hardcore Hawthown and GWS fans.

Even many Hawthorn fans would have been outside moving the lawn this weekend with their first bye on.

To draw fans that dont barrack for either team, the said teams must be competetive.

The ratings can really go only one way for GWS, they are about as low as they can get.

But the two teams combined almost have that many members.

But i guess they don't all have fox, unless buddy was on the way to kick 10 + goals, now that might get neutral viewers to tune in.

Untill GWS improves, builds a decent base of support, you can't really expect decent ratings week after week, having said that, Adelaide V GWS last week got 152k on fox, which is actually very good, but really did a game where a team gets flogged by 140 points or whatever it was deserve that.

I agree that GWS ratings will rise as they improve on field. Even now, they have not been bad, at least in terms of foxtel viewing.

Regarding the Hawthorn-GWS game in particular, the clash games Saturday afternoon and Saturday night get hurt in the ratings for obvious reasons, and fox ratings below 100k for those games have occurred numerous times.

Out of curiosity, I checked back over figures for the first 7 rounds. The following does not include the round just completed, which will bring the GWS average figures down a bit.

Average foxtel viewing per game for the competition as a whole at the completion of rd 7 was 198k. Average per GWS game was 184k, about 93% of the overall competition average. When compared against the same time slots, GWS rated about 8% above average. (In this latter calculation, the average viewing number per slot was calculated, then weighted by the proportions in which GWS played each slot, then compared with the GWS average, which reflects those same proportions.)

By comparison, the swans' average per game on fox was 212k, about 107% of the competition-wide average. Taking time slot into account, the swans were a bit below average (97%).

Would have thought the bulk of them would have flicked over to Essendon v Brisbane given Fox have the little scoreboard in the corner for the other game now.

Laughing at Essendon > watching your team belt a bunch of kids

Is the gold coast region counted as part of the Brisbane ratings or is it in the regional category?
All of the Gold Coast is counted in the Brisbane ratings even if watching the affiliate regional broadcast. and it's counted in the NNSW regional ratings but only those that tune into the regional broadcast. So some double counting occurs there

Aside from Perth has only outrated Adelaide in 2 out of 8 rounds this season. (6 and 7). Just sayin.

Very hard to judge because Perth uses 7mate quite a lot, and Adelaide in the main, AFAIK use 7, that alone gives Adelaide a rating advantage IMO.

Lat year, from memory, friday nights were bigger in Adelaide, but Perth was on a delay of a couple of hours.
