I've always had the theory that players who request a trade after 2 years from when they were drafted were soft as butter, lacked loyalty and would never end up having a good AFL career. It's a long way back now for Hately, smart move on why we didn't trade for him.
I like Hamill though and would play him before Luke Brown

At his best he most certainly is.
Doesn't have the ticker ?? Big statement. Not really. Hately doesn't have the ticka to play AFL. Soligo on the other hand is a fighter.

I'd say it's more about talent
Nathan Buckley went alright, Brett James, Mark Stevens.... There's a few who've been very good AFL players.I've always had the theory that players who request a trade after 2 years from when they were drafted were soft as butter, lacked loyalty and would never end up having a good AFL career.
Would luv to know what others thought about this??
Cook is by far the biggest disappointment of the pre-season. I thought he was building beautifully late last year and would hit the ground running. Such a talent. Let’s hope he fights his way back in.
You got me on Buckley.Nathan Buckley went alright, Brett James, Mark Stevens.... There's a few who've been very good AFL players.
He's got the talent to become cripps Carlton version. No ticka, no fight though.Doesn't have the ticker ?? Big statement.

Lol, players always line up where named. Keays is our new CHF.
I'm not sure he does, and I'm loathed to question a players commitment. Jackson has not lived up to the pre draft expectations, it happens. You got me on Buckley.
The other 2 really left after 2 years?

Whoever plays on one of the wings in the practice match is just warming the spot for Dawson who will slot straight in there round 1Lol, players always line up where named. Keays is our new CHF.
BTW, I don't mind if Hinge lines up on a wing. Imo, he will end up playing more in defence, but no reason he can't play on a wing at times either.
I hope so. I bloody love him. Could be anything, I reckon. It's hard to say at this point, seeing how Cook was in the group who got hit by COVID, and it's able to linger (on top of removing a bit of momentum). Bit unfortunate but he should bounce back eventually.

Yep, and he showed way more for GWS at AFL and NEAFL levels than he has showed for us at AFL and SANFL level.I'm not sure he does, and I'm loathed to question a players commitment. Jackson has not lived up to the pre draft expectations, it happens.
Well there goes my theory. If you want some modern versions: Sam Docherty, Elliot Yeo, Jack Steele, Jack Scrimshaw (building nicely), Tom Hickey, Jack Hombsch, Jack Gunston.
That said, there is likely more to say about if you're moving on in two years for opportunity reasons, your career is in a bit of strife. Of course, toughing it out doesn't make you a good footballer either. If you're going for the payday at this point, you're likely to be on track for a good career regardless what you do (though of course, a move is riskier then staying).

We are a side that is bottom 4. He had his preseason, I think he doesn't really deserve any excuses. He didn't do the pre season last year. He was rehabbing his shoulder, spent most of the year building his fitness and touch, and only debuted at the end of the year. So he's technically coming off his first pre season. Give him time.
Nah I'm talking about players whose clubs want them to sign on but leave anyhow like Yeo, Hately, Caldwell...Joshua Kennedy of the West Coast Eagles Career AFL Stats

Mind you I don't think it was his decision alone.
Bucks had his trade organised before his year at Brisbane
Makes little difference to your point.
Makes a big difference. My theory is for 2 years not 3.Makes little difference to your point.

If he's that good, he should be in.
