ESPN latest draft

14. Taj Hotton

23. TRADE: West Coast - Matt Whitlock

Murray Bushrangers/Vic Country
DEF/FWD, 199cm

Trade: Richmond trades pick 23 and a future third round pick for West Coast's future first round pick tied to Hawthorn and their future second round pick

The Eagles are pushing to trade into the first round with future selections and have been linked to key position prospects throughout. The Tigers are well positioned to gain an enviable 2025 draft hand by trading later first-rounders out to talent-hungry clubs like West Coast. Some clubs see Whitlock's future up forward, but he did his best work as a reliable defender with his long reach and athletic profile. He's an ideal long-term prospect at either end for the Eagles.

In the mix: Matt Whitlock, Harrison Oliver

30. West Coast - Hamish Davis
Claremont/Western Australia
FWD/MID, 190cm

Davis' WAFL exploits, which included four goals in a crunch final for Claremont, has given him a chance to find a home on the first night. His running power, speed and marking ability at 190cm is the full package for a half forward, but needs to re-work his kicking action to take the next step. West Coast is keen to add forward depth in this pool, and could settle on Davis if they don't select Berry. Both Sydney clubs have also shown interest in the Claremont gun.
Benefits Richmond too much.

Typical of another Clarke Richmond reward. He must be still employed by them😡

If this happens, Clarke is basically Art the Clown. Just when Eagles fans thought they couldn't handle any more pain, he comes back with the bleach and salt. 😂

I'd be investigating whether he's trying to get fired and get a payout, only to pop back up at Richmond in a nice gig with a stacked young team he helped rebuild. The ultimate trojan horse experience

Similar to Amiss in the leading with clean hands aspect then?

I'm very skeptical of taking a tall here and want to be sold.
Probably as clean as Amiss on the lead but definitely better in the pack/contested with both his hands and bodywork. eaglespremiers would have seen most of his games live and could comment further on this. He’s the best KPF but I agree with you not to such a level that we should be taking a KPF with that pick. If we were planning on trading Jake or Oscar next year more of an argument could be made.

Mickey "draft guru" Ablett on SEN this evening was asked if he'd have done the pick 3 swap Eagles did and he was quite scathing in his reply. Called the trade dumb and pretty much echoed what's been said on here, that if you want to pick a Judd or a Bont, you need to be picking very early in the draft and not at pick 12.

Don't recall if it was him or one of the hosts, but they said "essentially Eagles traded pick 3 + Barrass for pick 12 + Baker". I know that's not the full trade, but the point was made in temrs of what it means for our list & trade position for 2024.
Take whatever Mick Ablett says about us with a grain of salt. He has a chip on his shoulder about us for some reason.

Adem Yze has the hardest gig in footy ahead of him.

I can't see Richmond rebounding back up the ladder any time soon

And then blow three of those four on warner bidding against Freo, and end up drafting noone for 2 seasons like we did for TK.?!

I would prefer to trade out our first for next year to get back into this draft.

This then leaves only Hawks F1 for Rodrigues and we can offer Sydney our 26 and 27 first rounders for Warner.

Does anyone know why in this mornings west woodducks draft list has our first pick at 15 and no mention of our pick
at 26.

Agreed, but respect their decision to go full rebuild now before Tassie come in. They were looking at fuller rebuild once Tassie started ripping the draft apart. To move it up a year or two by facilitating moving out their 25/26 year olds might be beneficial in the long term.

Already prepared to have a hindsight melt when someone from the 40s invariably becomes an All Australian, after every club passes on them three or four times, because it proves our recruiters are the worst.

Happy ****ing draft day everyone!

Pick 12 slides to 15 because of academy/FS bids on Ashcroft, Kako and Lombard

Pick 26 is a 2nd round pick and his mock is 1st round only

If clubs don't force Brisbane to match Levi at pick 1 (understand clubs hate not having the no.1 pick on their team so Tigers wont) or pick 2 at worst then we all deserve to have Brisbane win the next 5 flags.
