God speed and may we sail forth to a glorious new day

Yes, we are all waiting for the iceberg 😁

Reid would be a coup if he slides to our pick. Gets in the right spots and would be a fantastic complement to Harley. Also Reid memes.

Hotton a big flight risk

Cal Twomey mentioned we’re also interested in Oli Hotton (and James Van Es) who were recently delisted by St Kilda. Wonder if we’re looking at keeping the brothers together to ward off homesickness?

I would be surprised if we get through the first 30 picks without a KPD. While I would love Edwards and Bazzo to come on, and we have surplus KPF's to requirements, some insurance and competition at the KPD position wouldn't go astray.

Woosha presenting the jumper. Hotton apparently not going to be there though.

Probably doesn't want to be shirtfronted. I can't blame the kid.

Sources told foxfooty.com.au the Dockers are considering moving a few spots up the order to West Coast’s selection, which would help them secure one of Hotton, Reid or Berry and hand the Eagles another 2024 draft pick, most likely in the second round. It comes amid a strengthening link between Hotton and the Eagles, per rival clubs.

Ughhhhhhhhh

Oh well, if Hotton is our man at least we're doing it properly and banking another selection in the process.

(IF it plays out like that Fox Sports article suggests).

Cockburn only has that pick 30, which seems like too much, so I'm not sure how that even works, unless it turns into a pick exchange.

I was as angry as everyone else on here with what transpired around the Baker trade and anyone pretending Clarke wasn't reemed at the trade table is kidding themselves.

But I'm starting to swing across to the Obeanie1 wagon that it's become one giant bed wetting exercise now.

Clarke is a list manager and not the guy running the scouting and drafting. ROB had duel roles and it was deliberately split this year, so this pile on about how he's had to be removed from decision making at the draft is unjustified.

Yes, the Baker trade was poor negotiating, but there was a thought process behind it that justifies how it transpired (whether you agree or not is subjective) and it wasn't just a giant whoopsy.
1. Baker will help address the standards at the club and it helped secure Graham for free. He was almost a must get.
2. Rumours that at pick 3 we wouldn't be in a position to draft who we wanted because of the whole Vic "i want to stay near mama" sook mentality.
3. The nature of this draft means we're not losing that much at pick 12 compared to pick 3. There isn't a Judd or Harley in this draft pool and every single player has sufficient deficiencies that there's a real chance there will be a lot of busts or very average players taken at the top end.

Both the Hotton boys and Van Es have had injury troubles. With our recent history it seems madness that we would go down the path of trying to rehabilitate injured players. We’ve had enough injured players of our own to deal with let alone drafting them as well.

Maybe Hotton is the back up in case all of TT/Reid/Lindsay and Allan are gone. Take a couple of pick slide, get an extra pick and take Hotton. Would be a very West Coast thing to do and maybe a sign not everything has changed.

JTR for the second year in a row

Have you considered that many are disillusioned and unhappy with the direction the club is heading in based on years of poor drafting and trading? Does the club even have an identity any more and if so what does it stand for? What an indictment when paid up members can’t answer that question.

Not having confidence in decision makers that in recent times have made poor decisions is not bed wetting, it’s critical appraisal and it’s how organisations get better.

I hope we nail the draft and take a couple of great kids and I won’t pass judgment until we know who they are but to be frank there’s hardly reason for confidence.

People complained about people running the club. We changed everyone out. Mindset hasn’t changed.

You have to give a chance to people that just got in. And ultimately it’s about drafting good players.

Apart from Clarke. He can go back where he came from.

Berry or Hotton would be grim areas.

Reid is the best prospect who is likely to be available but as usual I expect West Coast to try be the smartest in the room followed by an incredible amount of back patting.
Hope the Hotton/trade down talk is just us covering our ass if Reid’s not there. Makes sense to have contingencies in place to get extra picks if our first choice isn’t there.

In saying that though.. if Reid isn’t there that means someone else is. So trading the pick doesn’t make sense regardless.

2. Rumours that at pick 3 we wouldn't be in a position to draft who we wanted because of the whole Vic "i want to stay near mama" sook mentality.

The players I’ve most seen linked to that mentality are Reid and Hotton, who we’re now looking at with pick 12.

We need a separate thread where we can record for posterity who we personally would have taken with pick 3, and therefore who we’re wetting the bed over missing out on. Mine’s Langford.

So that would give us 14, 26 and 30. Hmmmmm sounds interesting.

Yes we gave up barrass and pick 3 for 12 and 26.

Is this how you evaluate things in your life? By cutting out critical info?

What was missed that was critical?

Some middling players that'll be retired in a few years?
