Do we take the technology to implement such a ban?

Would the banana constitute an assault charge?

It has to be. I can see the AFC consulting a lawyer and pressing charges. It hit a player afterall. They need to feel safe in the workplace. A hefty fine will help the cause of ensuring fans think before they commit such acts.

Ban for life for throwing something at a player ... im not going to accept monkey=racist though. Never thought ape=racist so i dont think calling anyone an animal is racist.

Some p[eople have this chain of thought about associating an ape or Monkey with the lowest form of intelligence within the animal kingdom and some people also link an African American people really people with a dark coloured skin with an ape, monkey or gorilla.

It's racism of the lowest form.

In the same way flat-earthers might say.... I'm not going to accept earth=sphere? Maybe research the subject.

Is this the first time for a while something has been thrown at a player?

I can't recall it happening - certainly not in the recent past. Back in the 80s etc sure, but it's just so obviously out of bounds behaviour now.

can be done in a lot of ways, and it doesn't have to be high tech.

it absolutely could. a threat alone to assault someone is enough to sustain an assault charge, so it would be reasonable to assume this would easily qualify

I wonder of they arew willing to implement such things. Over to SAPOL now to press charges.

LOL, who am I kidding. They won't even investigate.

If the intent behind the action had "banana = monkey" connotations then it should be an instant permaban.

I've had enough of the abuse and disdain that some @rseholes level at Indigenous people and other marginalized groups in our society. Unless they're kicking goals for the right team of course, then suddenly they're worthy of being treated as humans. It's disgusting and a disgrace.

Makes me sick and if we go soft on her I hope your mob takes us to task.

Struggle to remember too many incidents.
Only one that I remember that is slightly similar in that it was a physical sense was the female supporter throwing beer over Brad Johnson at the GABBA 7 years ago.

The club has encouraged this way of thinking since day one with their us against the world mentality. There is an element of their supporterbase who are just the lowest, most basic form of humanity you will ever meet.

It is just an element though. Every Port supporter I've talked to has been disgusted by this lady and her banana throwing antics.

I'm all for the banter and rivalry but some of the best people I know support Port. They're often embarrassed and disgusted by their feral brethren. Pretty sure most of us realise the vast majority aren't sub-human ferals in reality :)

Looks like they'll have no problem identifying this lady and I'm sure she'll get what she deserves.

what's your personal motivation for pushing this agenda, trying to mitigate her behaviour? I don't think its a racial motivation, so what's in for you to diminish her culpability?
Misguided devil's advocacy. Again.

This is the 3rd year in a row port fans have been involved in ugly incidents with opposition players who don't fit into their 1950's view of the world.

If Port Power want to continue to sweep this shit under the carpet nothing will change and there will be a 2017 incident, 2018 incident...

Twice against Bachar Houli too

This will be a good test of how strong a leader Kochie is. His presser coming up.

He isn't a good one so it won't count for much.

The fans today are condemning her behaviour but give it a week (some of them are already doing this) they will all be blaming Eddie for the incident because he dared go up to the crowd and he incited the incident. Never mind that their were plenty of Crows supporters in that pocket.

Absolutely its assault, what if I came into your classroom and threw projectiles at you while you were teaching? I would say that would be totally unacceptable and your employer owes you a duty of care and safety in the workplace.
We can't fob off its only a banana, ANY projectile no matter what has to be treated very seriously. The crazies cannot be given any ideas, remember Monica Seles? Automatic life bans for throwing objects or running onto the field should be mandatory.

Comments from people who have to sit around this "supporter" say she is a feral every week with her language and telling them to f off when they ask her to reign it in. Ban her from the AO for the foreseeable future no room in the game for racist feral twits.
Just been on FoxSportsNews so she has been shamed by the entire nation now...

Throw a banana at anyone in Rundle Mall and watch the police take you away and charge you.
