Update on what last year's retirements/delistings are doing in 2023;

SYDNEY SWANS
James Bell (delisted) – Glenelg (SANFL)

Josh Kennedy (retired) — Combining his passions for finance and youth mentorship in an ambassadorial role for Future Generation, which is the ASX-listed funds management company set up by Wilson Asset Management — a business Kennedy has been associated with for six years.

Sam Naismith (delisted) – Port Melbourne (VFL)

Barry O‘Connor (delisted) – TBC, but will return to Sydney and hopes to play in some capacity, plus he has finished a business degree

Colin O‘Riordan (retired) – Had been playing for Tipperary (GAA), but is moving back to Australia. Recently graduated with first class honours in business marketing from Kaplan Business School.

Ben Ronke (delisted) – TBC, but linked to Carlton (VFL)

Callum Sinclair (retired) – Working full-time for Dexus in property development, but still could have a kick in Sydney at local level

Lewis Taylor (delisted) – Terang-Mortlake (Hampden Football Netball League)

Some pretty smart cookies there.
Reckon Bell should do very well at SANFL.
Hope Ronke gets a run, plenty good enough.
Just hope big Sam's body holds up and he enjoys himself.
A bit surprised that Taylor went home rather than play VFL or SANFL. Certainly good enough.

Thanks Hairy , Naismith was told by a couple of clubs to move here to a stand alone and if he gets though will be picked up

Given they are pretty thin on small forwards he might get picked up mid season if things fall his way. 🤞🤞🤞
I reckon they're pretty flush for them aren't they? Durdin, Owies, Motlop. Don't get me wrong, Ronke probably has more runs on the board than all of them, would be good to see him get another crack.

Don't know much about Durdin. Seems below average on most indicators.
Owies more a defensive type, above average only in tackles.
Motlop very promising but still raw.
Depends what they want I guess but I would rate him above Durdin for sure and above Owies as an attacker. Motlop looks a good long term prospect as an attacker.

I come in peace.

What happened to Ben Ronke? I remember early on with you guys he looked like a jet. Arrogant, but a jet.

I remember him putting Kade Simpson into the fence and I was pissed!

He was an impact player that struggled to make an impact.

Outside of the two games where he kicked 7 against Hawthorn and 5 against North (basically winning us both games) he always had good pressure but never consistently hit the scoreboard or created other scoring opportunities himself. Kind of just floated through games at times.

He also had some injuries and then got over taken by Papley, Wicks to some degree and Clarke being better as a tagging small forward

I return in peace

Kade Simpson was great but so unbearingly smug

Is that how we do the peace thing ? With the back handed compliment.

Purely mentioned arrogant as I assumed it may be a reason his development stalled.

Didn't intend to insult.

All the best for the season :)

Ronke celebrated his goals in that memorable bag of 7 like any excited new player would. Nothing in his career showed him to be arrogant and it’s hard to see where that notion would come from.

Had you said Papley whilst I’d still take offence I’d at least understand why you might say it.

It’s just strange to visit an opposition board then throw something out there casually under the guise of peace.

Maybe my age is just showing

Ben was more or less lined up behind Papley as an attacking small forward. Wicks and now Clarke seem to have the defensive side sown up and the club obviously had eyes on Konstanty so Ben became surplus to requirements. His best was very good but he was a bit inconsistent.
I wouldn't have said he was arrogant. Excitable maybe.
Lost his spot in a very good group so he will be very handy in VFL and might be worth a look for mid-season if there is space.
Left in our good graces.
