Ok, here is the thread for our post game wrap up. At the moment I am too happy with the result to even contemplate the bad and the ugly, so I will be back later with my thoughts, once the euphoria dies down.

The Good, a win in round one and an away win at that. :thumbsu: :D

Post away on your thoughts...

The Good

Hanging in there after we went behind to come up with the win. Very character building!
Petrenko, Cook and Walker remarakably cool heads in a tight game.
Otten's form
Vince taking Craigy's mantle
Normy and Edwards doing Benjamin Button
Maric giving it to Anthony

The Bad

The Goal kicking

The Ugly

Umpiring terribly inconsistent.

Good - Petrenko (should be under GREAT)
Bad - Channel 10 not showing the song!
Ugly - The last 2 minutes - WAY too stressful! I had to leave the room and go sit outside for the last minute.

The good – winning a game in Melbourne with 5 teenagers in the side.
The Bad – that holding the ball decision on Douglas when he has no change at getting rid of it.
The ugly – nothing today.

Good
Our Kids- Petrenko and Otten playing blinders, Cook showing something, Dangerfield playing really well, pity he couldn't get the goal to wrap it up at the end.
Douglas and his last quarter heroics!!! What a player.
McLeod turning back the clock and the other experienced players of Edwards and Goodwin stepping up when it mattered.
Stevens playing a ripping match.
Bad
Tippett having zero impact.
Not impressed with Knights, needs to train well this week and step up next week.
Goalkicking again let us down and nearly cost us 4 points.
Ugly
Umpires getting involved in the last quarter and making shocking decisions both ways. If Medhurst had kicked that goal...

Let's not call them 'bad' or 'ugly'. Let's call them 'areas where we can improve'. Centre clearances. Ruckwork--tapping to advantage. Set shots at goal.
Apart from that...WHAT A GREAT WIN. At the G. Against a parochial Magpie horde (well done you Crowies that got there). Gutsy, come from behind win. The fabulous first games of Petrenko & Cook and The other kids, Otten, Dangerfield. The great teamwork and backing up. Ivan's standing up for Petrenko when Anthony tried to monster him. There is more, but I need to go and calm down a bit. Hope we win by a lot more next week.

The Good

Petrenko laughing in Anthony's face first, then Otten comes in to stand up for his mate and Maric wanders over to finish it off :D

Douglas' last quarter - do not discount his efforts in this quarter. His run back with the flight of the ball to punch it through the goals and prevent a Collingwood mark. He then gets up and shortly after is involved in the lovely pass to Porplyzia that really sealed the game.

Our youngsters kept their heads and showed great poise.

Craig's coaching - the tactical battle he won over Malthouse.

van Berlo's leadership and goal kicking.

The Bad

Missing set shots for goal but there was a slight improvement.

The clangers from the senior players in the last quarter. Stevens, Vince, Bock, Goodwin.

The Ugly

The ruckwork and clearance work was  But we still won in spite of being spanked in this respect.

Good - Petrenko (should be under GREAT)
Bad - Channel 10 not showing the song!
Ugly - The last 2 minutes - WAY too stressful! I had to leave the room and go sit outside for the last minute.

That was annoying! so I ran to and turned on Foxtel.
I couldn't stop smiling. Fantasic, they loved every second of it.
Hope they show it somewhere for you!

Good

The win!

The composure of the kids - Petrenko holding it up when it wasn't advantage, Otten all day

Dangerfield being quietly effective

Myke Cook running the game out when other players were pretty much dead

Bernie Vince

The spirit of the guys defending Petrenko. After Anthony thought he'd look tough by picking on our smallest bloke, Otten first came in then Maric
wanted to start a war. Top stuff.

Craigy being rewarded for running with the kids

Tyson 'Benjamin Button' Edwards

Bad

Goalkicking - particularly early

Chris Knights' decision making

Someone's going to have to miss out to bring Thompson back

Our 2nd quarter

Our ruckwork in the middle

Ugly

The umpiring. Jesus, how long do we have to put up with shit like this. Awful.

Dwayne Russell calling every kid we've got as 'a Victorian who's returning home'.

i thought knights was good.. reilly wasnt very good today.. but all the youngsters looked good.. think reilly might get dropped for johncock?

The Good
SUCK THAT PIES!

The Bad
Knighta gets an upgrade from ugly for that final goal.
Accuracy in front of goal. Or maybe it just looks poor considering CW could barely miss.
Edit: Would have loved to see Cook kick that goal. He would have got it if he had a decent haircut.
The Ugly
Toovey.

Dwayne Russell calling every kid we've got as 'a Victorian who's returning home'.
Sort of sad the way he's obviously spent the off season trying to think of witty things to say.

Just went to the game. You guys will know better than me which players were awesome. But I have a few points.

One - in the first quarter especially, but in general, our zoning is brilliant. It always was, but it worked much better today with our run and dash.

We played 2 waves of players at kick outs. One across centre, and another between centre and half back. Collingwood fell to bits with this zoning completely. As they say, the only way through it is with handballing, and Collingwood eventually worked this out (see 3rd quarter). But we are playing very similar to Hawthorn.

Our forward set up was simply 4 players across Half Forward, then a tall between CHF and FF, and a small (usually Porpy, sometimes JET) around FF. Very interesting.

Towards the end of the last quarter we only had 4 smalls inside 50. Porpy, Cook, Dougy and JET.

Two - Andy Otten is a seriously good footballer. Hard to notice as much on the game, but seeing his zoning work, run, carry, spoiling and football nous in defence was a pleasure to watch. He has it.
