Core temperature affects athletic output. The club will have a hydration strategy dialled-in and ice vests on the bench.

Our players won't need them of course, but they'll be nice to have.
Learn something new every day! Hopefully they don't need them then. I'd guess the effects of this would be more significant in higher temperatures than 28 degrees - right?

Itโ€™s becoming increasingly difficult to actually even picture winning it and all the celebration that comes with it.

Our depressingly consistent history losing Grand Finals makes it something thatโ€™s hard to creep into my thoughts

There's a lot of talk going on about the heat, and it's unsurprising that there would be, but I don't think the heat will be a factor whatsoever in the game. The players all live in Australia and grew up here (barring Cox) and will be damn well used to having the sun beating down on them.

I don't believe that the heat has any effect on aerobic fitness, so I reckon as long as they're hydrated they'll be completely fine. See Hawks schooling the Eagles in the heat in 2015 - no excuses.

Easy for you to say as you down a couple of cold frothies under the shade Young Fella

The heat will be a factor because even though it's not a very hot day, it's a sudden rise in temperature.

It's a relative impact and it's based on what temp the body has acclimatised to. Picture an eskimo athlete trying to run 5km in on an 18 degree day. A fit Melburnian wouldn't be affected at all, the poor little Arctic dude would struggle. :)

Listened to Fagan's post-parade interview again.....

He acknowledged that they'd failed a few times to get to the big dance and said that making it to a GF this year is a significant achievement. He also said that if they don't win, they'll try just as hard again next year.

By contrast, Fly and Moore said nothing that sounded like they were at all satisfied by just making it to the GF, or were contemplating anything other than victory tomorrow.

Its quite an interesting difference in the apparent mindsets.
Think Fly is an excellent leader and motivator.
Behind that cool exterior lies a ruthless competitor.
Would love to be behind the four walls tomorrow to hear his pre game and interval addresses to the team.

Any luck we can come up trumps and see in a doco.

Love this club and what Fly has brought into it.

You're fun at parties. :(

Speed kills and that is where we have a distinctive advantage according to David King. We have more leg speed in the midfield and elsewhere so will hope we get our run and gun game going. Hopefully they will be chasing tail all day after being shell shocked early. Definitely will be looking to see how the run is.

See the preview - have thoughts but feel happy that there is counter evidence too.

Suck it up sunshine- our history has got nothing to do with anything that our boys deliver tomorrow.
We buried our history in 1990.

For the first time since 2002, Iโ€™m super calm about this grand final. I donโ€™t know why. Itโ€™s not like me at all.

This time in 24 hours, weโ€™ll have a good idea how we stand.

One thing for sure, I feel Collingwood is different now. Our history, which continued into the 2000s, doesnโ€™t matter now. This is a new version of our club.

I think with the big overhaul from president, coach and through the football department, our culture has changed so much.
