Yeah, that's what I meantNahhhh, 206 goals
Excitement really starting to build, so much so that sleeping is getting in the way. I just want it to be Saturday already!!
Surely we get this done, considering how much 2018 hurt, so l want the feeling of 2010 back.
I'm liking our build up, no lingering decisions to be made. We ruled out Adams early, announced Big Billy Frampton back into the side yesterday. Our focus has no distractions, and we can solely focus on the game.
I always thought Frampton would come in as soon as McStay was ruled out. I personally love his versatility, and will play a role again in the biggest game of his life. He will be up forward to compete, bring the ball to ground, and maybe even do a job on Andrews.
Think Ginnivan stays sub. It's going to be a warm day, so he can come on and hopefully make an impact, whilst others are struggling around him. Lipinski stays in after Adams was ruled out. Lippa must feel as fortunate as much as Billy is at the moment.
Can't wait for the open training session today, then the parade tomorrow, then Saturday morning!!!!
I think we get it done by 17 points. Coxy and Cameron in the ruck l think can stifle McInerney, so the Lions mids aren't given the opportunity to get the game played in their forward half.
Naicos is primed after his first run back last week, and if the Lions tag Jordy, then Naicos could go beserk. He may well be pushing a 35 to 40 disposal game, with 1 or 2 goals.
Our forward line, with good supply, l think can kick 12 to 13 goals, which l see as enough to win this game. Our back six is in elite form, so on the other end of the scale, we can restrict the Lions to 8 to 10 goals.
Naicos or Quaynor for the Norm Smith for me.
For the first time since 2002, I’m super calm about this grand final. I don’t know why. It’s not like me at all.
This time in 24 hours, we’ll have a good idea how we stand.
One thing for sure, I feel Collingwood is different now. Our history, which continued into the 2000s, doesn’t matter now. This is a new version of our club.
I think with the big overhaul from president, coach and through the football department, our culture has changed so much.
Absolutely incorrect. The backline does not need to be changed, although frampton will be handy to swing back in game if circumstances demand it.. hopefully not needed because we are winning.
Frampton has been selected to replace mcstay. He will largely do that. He might do the role slightly differently ie play a defensive role on Andrews…… and given the warm weather conditions could spend some time in the ruck to give Cameron and cox the ability to recover after shorter bursts. This would also allow cox more time forward where he has been a finals hero in the past.
As for the smaller forward line, we achieved that not by bringing frampton in, but by swapping Ginnivan for Lipinski.
Don’t understand your point on macrae or noble. They aren’t forwards. We already have trouble fitting our mids into the team with lipinski elbowed off to the sub bench , and markov has replaced noble.
Anyone with more insight into how the warm weather will effect our game style?
My feeling is it helps our game style. Kinda like the early rounds of the season, where it was warm against Geelong and Port and our harder for longer game style thrived best with our strong fitness. Fatigue from the heat should suit our lock down game if he have to impose it.
I don't think Brisbane living in a warmer climate matters. 2002/03 we're colder GFs and it didn't help us at all.
Really surprised no pre-game scandal has risen up. Either side.
id rather more of a bufferI think we will win by 206 points
As long as we’ve won the GF pfft who cares. Well……We do post-GF scandal very well. Keep an eye on Sunday.
Cox in particular does not have a form line that suggests he'll stink it up.
Took it up to Gawn and actually won the hit out count against him, and then beat Briggs last week.
We'll see I guess
There's a lot of talk going on about the heat, and it's unsurprising that there would be, but I don't think the heat will be a factor whatsoever in the game. The players all live in Australia and grew up here (barring Cox) and will be damn well used to having the sun beating down on them.
I don't believe that the heat has any effect on aerobic fitness, so I reckon as long as they're hydrated they'll be completely fine. See Hawks schooling the Eagles in the heat in 2015 - no excuses.
KISS will be awesome!Only downer is KISS being the pre-match entertainment. A geriatric Gene Simmons isn't exactly the sort of thing that have you in a rush to leave the boozy pre game lunch in Chinatown in a hurry to get to the G.
Surely they can get us the Smashing Pumpkins or something, or if we're set on rolling old rockers out in wheelchairs, Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys? FFS
Assuming that a lot of the play will be on the members side as that’s normally the shadier side of the ground. The Southern Stand gets a lot more direct sun, especially if you are in the stands, where l am sitting. It's being played in a stadium that will be in the shade for most of the game. It's the most irrelevant stat for the entire match.
The Lions record at the G on the otherhand...
