[Cornes]: ... and any extra uplift shouldn't matter when you get what was promised

This is the most mindblowingly stupid statement I've ever heard from anyone with an IQ over 75, let alone a professional opinion-merchant whose conflict of interest should be with Port Adelaide given the career trajectory of his sons.

His baseline argument is that we got the uplift from Adelaide Oval that was promised (largely off the back of record membership and increased sponsorship) and therefore the superseding of projected stadium revenues by literally millions of dollars is irrelevant and all that cash should just disappear to the other vested interests with any and all calls for transparency and fairness - joined by Crows CEO Andrew Fagan, magnate Rob Gerard and the entire AFL industry - merely derided as Port Adelaide greed?

F@#k me, Cornesy.

You're a self-made man, were a star athlete, were a premiership coach, have succeeded in business and served your country in Vietnam - and instead of these unique experiences opening your mind and instilling the wisdom that comes with such worldliness you're as myopic, bitter and provincial as dipshits like Stephen Rowe, Mark Aiston, Rob Shuttleworth and David Wildy?

Wow.

Bitter and provincial perfectly sums up the bulk of the SA media. It's such a sheltered workshop that they think they're protecting SA when they're actually destroying it and making the State a laughing stock.

All from one left hook behind the play.

I'm not 100% sure his IQ is over 75. Some of the rubbish he comes out with makes Forrest Gump look intelligent.

The contradictions in Gra Gra's stance make him sound like your average FB ranter/troll.

The simple fact of the matter is that we have incurred extra costs as a result of the increase in crowd numbers from our initial expectation but have not received any extra revenue from the same uplift in crowd numbers. This is the cruz of the issue.

The vague references to Port "getting everything that they asked for" is disingenuous. We budgeted for a loss of around $2mil this year based on what would have been a worst case scenario crowd average of 32k. We delivered well above this average.

If, as Grumpy has suggested, Port entered an agreement with a specific request to NOT take a cut of F&B then why has this not been presented by the SMANFL?

How would he even know if he wasn't told by someone who did know?

Always Penelope's fault.

The really strange thing about Cornes article is on the flipside he must think it is perfectly ok for his beloved Crows to record their highest ever membership total, record the league's best home crowd, and sell out the corporate suites but still only just break even. Maybe Gra Gra SANFL love supersedes his Crows love.

Surely the crows diehards have to eventually wake up to the fact that something is not right about this stadium deal. Or are they quite content with just travelling along making modest profits despite breaking records as long as we are posting $2million losses at the same time, strangely i think that is the sad attitude amongst a lot of crows fans, predominantly the older fans i'm finding. However, i'm hopeful there is enough crows fans out there that have woken up and realised they are getting bent over too and it is not just port whinging and also hopeful that Fagan will not be an SANFL yes man like Trigg was. We really need to be United on this issue for the betterment of both footy clubs.

I am pretty sure at least 40% of your total `likes' are earned from ripping on Graham Cornes. Understandably so.

That News Limited not only publish that dribble under one of their mastheads but they also pay that bitter SNAFL stooge and official Cows Ambassador for writing such dribble shows what a truly unprofessional organisation they are.

correct, however not sure why people are surprised over this article. The new business model of News Ltd is to produce opinion articles simply to try to inflame issues and sensationalise stories to get a reaction and thus more ratings. This opinion piece by Cornes is just standard News Ltd rubbish. The Advertiser is dying and the only thing they have left is to produce ultra right wing opinion articles based on rubbish, over and over, so that they get a few clicks registered on Adelaide Now.
