Obviously I'm not a Port supporter and understand if you disapprove of me breaking in on your conversation, but PAFC loyalists should know you have the sympathy, goodwill and shared outrage of non-SA club supporters in this city at the amateurish harebrained bias in South Australia's "professional" media.

The entire sporting press corps in this state, excepting the honourable and even-handed W. Tredrea, are paid or contractually obligated ("club ambassadors") tools or avowed fans of the Camry Crows. There appears no shame for major talkback radio stations to hire ex-Crows captains and coaches as the presenters in premiere time slots in a revolving door of cronyism, sycophancy and disregard for public taste and intelligence which would be nigh unimaginable in any other Australian capital market.

Aggravating the offence, these transparent creatures of the Crows on the airwaves act with a churlish and, at times, abusive petulance that makes fair-minded neutrals dislike the Crows as much as they dislike the dishonesty and charlatanism.

I find Rowe to be not only a booby, but a man with no scruple to drop vicious sneers and ungracious goading of non-Camry clubs (in practice, PAFC nine times out of ten) while simultaneously make a parade of spotless pure benevolence in fighting for SA footy traditions and grassroots and that he's your average kind-hearted bloke next door. Pshaw!

On moral principle I refuse to listen to Bickley as he has no qualification in journalism or oratory justifying his appointment to the radio, and his continuing salaried position with the Crows as marketing such-and-such (to placate him after his swift dismissal from the coaches' box by Walsh) inspires suspicions about his credibility and candour no less than the bevy of Crows players' girlfriends employed by 5AA lead to thoughts about indirect salary cap evasions.

Give this man a cigar!

And a scotch on the rocks
You don't have scotch on the rocks ... was told at the gathering of the Clans in Edinburgh when in the Dewar Tent by the Dewar Chief, you only have it with cold water as it brings out the flavour. That's after I asked if they had ice hahahahaha. From that day fourth I only have it with a wee drop of cold water or neat lol

Or with coke amirite?

I really don't get this thread. Why in today's day and age do you waste your life on commercial media. They pitch themselves at the lowest common denominator and have no substance about them. Shock jocks the lot of them.

Personally PTV press conferences videos and the Port website is about all you need. If you're really keen then interview podcasts are everywhere.

Until the ratings fall through the floor they'll keep serving up the same crap every week and worse still other media channels will follow the same formula of "success".

As much as I enjoy the payouts the old saying is true "never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience".

I am with you.
However the battle is not with the knowledgeable football supporter who knows their stuff. It's the subliminal and evermoreso overt messages to the masses which affect the general perception (and profitability!) of our football club.
For example Having to explain to the better half that Port was NEVER going to trade Hartlett for Ryder was excruciating, given the droll throwaway lines the "media" put out to create a story and undermine the club.

Yes the bandwagon supporters are awesome for the bottom line, but I much rather the us versus them, so much more rewarding when you win against the odds and being anti establishment always appeals to the kids.

It's great celebrating a premiership, better still when it pisses off so many more.

Better a day as a lion than a century as a sheep

Yep. All good stuff, and I'm right in the pit with you. Events of 1990 still make my blood boil.
But don't you think is much better with true believers AND a full house too?

You're talking to the wrong bloke. I'm still dark about having to get to the game two hours earlier than I'd otherwise show up because my seats are unreserved :D

The way I see it our supporters are worth 5 to 1 when compared to most other clubs anyway.

However for the greater good I'll happily watch from standing room only and keep hoping that the larger crowds helps the team deliver what we're all about.

Regardless I don't see how the media have had any input to our larger crowds.

I brought back 21yo Glenmorangie & 18yo Dewars single malts, they cost me about $200 duty free Glasgow. Sister came for a visit and I asked her hubby if he wanted a whisky. Sister said I will have one with coke geez. Told her I am not wasting this bloody good whisky with coke lol

Bicks is doing ok even with Rowe denigrating the show as per usual & will eventually grow into the job as time goes by as well as bringing some well credentialed footy knowledge for the punters to digest, Son of Stud plus Bicks will bring the crowds back to 5aa when Kane eventually hangs up his boots.
