The OFFICIAL 2012 Draft thread: Picks 15, 38, 42, 48, 58, 63

The math [or arithmetic] from the North site do not seem to work out unless we are going to delist a couple more than we have thought. It would not surprise me to see Mabon delisted at the second list lodgement if we pick up someone like Currie. As well, Kennedy may be on thin ice. We may also keep a pick for the preseason draft if that is where Jacobs is going to nominate. The north site says that gibbo will be elevated and in that scenario more players in addition to Warren, McKinley, Garlett and Campbell will have to go.

Do you honestly think we would play Mabon in the seniors for an extended period of time given injury?

He's nowhere near a senior game imo.

It would be a Drew/Daw tandem, and someone like Black would come in and fill Drew's spot in the forward line.

We will be taking a state league ruckman imo.

Yeah, not by choice. But if Goldy/Drew get hit with re-occuring injuries that are not considered LTIs then it may be difficult for us to field a replacement ruckman. If we recruited a state league ruckman onto the senior list then it makes sense to rookie him.

we had 39 players on our senior list and 7 rookies(daw, gibson, mullett, warren, lynch urqs and mangan). lynch, mango and urqs delisted.

so we have (1) free spot on our senior list to get to 40,
out (3) hmac, azza and pedo
in: (1) gysberts
overall 3 free spots before delistings
delist (3) campbell, garlett, mckinley
which gives us 6 picks in the draft, 2 to upgrade maj and mulllett and we use picks 15,38,42,48 on kids. I reckon we keep gibbo on the rookie list despite the new contract and upgrade him after round 11 like we did this year.
You are forgetting Boomer who goes from vets to senior list under new rules. So you must start from 40 n0t 39. Gee, this is fun!

No way in hell we'd cut him this year, will play games next year.

Why would we do that? 39 is a reasonable pick.

Dunno. Heard the Collngwood recruiting guy talking about it. Said the Pies were keen to improve their position and suggested that North wanted an extra pick inside 50. Maybe it'll all be revealed some time. Didn't make much sense to me either.

Why would they just re-sign Kennedy if he is on thin ice?

mabon signed a contract during the year...he will not be delisted by north.

We might have our sights on a senior player from the SANFL, WA league or VFL. You've got your Harry Taylors, Liam Anthonys and Paul Puopoulos. Anyone fit this category that's not already signed up by GCS or GWS?
Max Duffy would be a chance late second round. Forward pocket with a bit of magic. Can run thru the midfield. Faster than he looks. From East Freo WAFL.

People may complain with the whole "haven't we got enough one paced midfielders", but im a huge fan of Vlaustin based on what i've seen of him (which isnt much apart from the Under 18's Champs if im honest)

In his own words
What type of player are you?

Quick player who has football smarts and reads play well. Can add an extra x factor to teams and makes good decisions.

Which AFL player do you feel you resemble and why?

Steve Johnson or Dale Thomas because they have the same qualities as mentioned above. They have also both played small forwards and at times through the middle.

What are your strengths as a footballer?
My pace and timing around stoppages and contests. I read the play well and make good decisions. I think at this stage I’m a bit more of an impact player that doesn’t gather a lot of possessions.

What parts of your game would you like to improve?
My defensive pressure. I want to win more contested ball and tackle better with added strength and size.

Which AFL team do you support and how did you come to barrack for them?
Collingwood. I supported Collingwood and the Kangaroos but they got rid of Corey so I switched to the Pies [wtf?]. Also because of Buckley and S.Rocca.

Who has been the biggest influence on your career so far, and why?
My dad because he has taught me everything I know since I was small and always gives up his time to take to take me to training or the gym etc.
I like the sound of him. [Fr

He was also in the AIS last year, but was overlooked, he had a poor year in the colts.

Surely we'll keep Campbell if he's still under contract. Richardson would have to be borderline on getting delisted with milky and McKinley.

I've read on here somewhere that Richo's contracted for next year. Very lucky.

Very injured.

He is a better player than Speight or Sierakowski. They are very lucky.

Hope you're right. The player who impressed us playing for North Ballarat has been unrecognisable since he was recruited. We have done something to him or he has done something that has not worked - even before he got injured. Has he lost too much weight? Is he playing out of position?

3 round 3 selections = I think we'll be targeting some mature aged players from the state leagues here, i.e. probably a ruck and a small forward.

we don't have to upgrade him, he has a 2 yr contract but can stay on the rookie list so we can officially upgrade him end of next year and put him on the senior list after round 11 in 2013 like we did with him this year

After his form once he was upgraded why would you deny the bloke a spot on the senior list?
