i know steve saunders has a great rep as groin/soft tissue guru,so how does that translate to getting a bloke who has had a badly broken leg,and now apparently runs like a crippled crab, and needs a special boot, and to change his running style, not his area of expertise i would have thought,

I reckon he would have a fair handle on the mechanics of running and how not to place any extra stress on particular muscles and joints.

He is a physiotherapist and sports scientist who specialises in soft tissue injuries. I'm confident he'd know or he'd know someone else in the industry who would be able to fix his running style

A super talented bloke who has an altered running style due to a savage break in his leg. Am I back in 2008 or something?

We will pick who we believe to be the best available at pick 15. Simple as that.

Lewis, Joyce and Scott will have interviewed these kids, watched hour upon hour live and taped footage and done all the necessary due dilligence.

No one would have any idea what we are doing. Our blokes play their cards very close to their chest.

If we do infact pick Hrovat, then there would be a really good reason why we do. That being that we think he is the best vailable at our selection.

some people are saying he has a serious "gait" in his running...others are saying you can't notice it.

He hasn't had many soft tissue injuries this year, it just seems he has an altered running style which one AFL scientist suggested could be fixed in a matter of weeks at AFL level.

I don't think its a big issue.....Ziebell has broken his leg twice and he seems pretty good to me.

I think it may be an over exaggeration. JWS' running style was permanently screwed due to the fact he was bone on bone through the ankle joint. Nothing could be done to remove the pain he was enduring except altering his gait. He was doomed from the moment his bones snapped and shredded his cartilage.

Stringer's leg break was pretty bad, Barlowesque. It is obviously still bothering him somewhat so that he is protecting it, be that subconsciously or by physiological reaction to weakness, but it is something that can be overcome through time. that he is not pinging hammies is a good sign.

JWS was ****ed because of the soft tissue injuries resulted through his ankle.

Stringer hasn't had the same problems, and has gotten back to football far quicker than JWS ever did.

People are only doubting him, because he had a quiet championships imo, he dominated at times in the TAC Cup, and was one of Bendigo's best players in the VFL when in there.

He isn't physically where he was at 2 years ago, but then again, he hasn't had a multi-million dollar football and medical department backing him 6 days a week either.

If he was back to his best physically, he wouldn't even be in the discussion, he'd be going to GWS.

He's well worth the risk imo. Well worth it.

The break was a shocker. Barlow or Brown like. I guess we will find out on Thursday how bad his leg is.

If he is available and we pass on him then it would suggest that our experts think his leg will be an ongoing problem. If he's as good as is being touted and his leg is no issue, then you would think he'd be long gone by pick 15.

Either way, we still can't expect him to be much chop for at least two years.

I would be over the moon about this.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I said. Poor f****r never stood a chance.

Fingers crossed.

And toes.

And testicles

Yep, as much as that would probably displease you.

Although, there's no reason he can't play a Darling/Crameri style role straight away.

Full-time center square work would be as you said, probably 2 years off imo.

Swallow (28) 180cm/82kg
Ziebell (24) 188cm/90kg
Cunnington (23) 186cm/88kg
Atley (22) 189cm/90kg
Stringer (20) 191cm/94kg

Anyone wanna get hurt?

Safe to say our first round pick this year will be one of: Kennedy, Stringer, Garlett, Garner or Hrovat. I think anyone of those is going to be a solid pick up. I'm least convinced about garner however, he strikes me as a half forward rather than a mid. The comparisons to Nat Fyfe aren't really warranted imo.

Assuming jacobs is going to be gone by our 2nd pick, who are we thinking?

Personally I like the look of:
Jesse Lonergan (highly doubt he will be there but because he is Tasmanian he may be under the radar a bit)
Tim Temay
Dean Towers
Jason Pongracic
Liam McBean

Later picks I would be keen on:
Max Duffy
Anthony Tingpunwuti
Shane Nelson
Daniel Currie
Chris Prowse

Mason Wood please. Has the arrogance, swagger and a bag of tricks to boot. This kid took a hit due to shoulder problems this year but when he's up and running he will be a gun. Just a natural.

Nobody was able to help JWS...
