Honestly can't wait for 2pm tomorrow
Tell me about it. This is my first post in this thread but I've read every page.
I think there's an obvious relationship between spending so much time waiting for something to happen and the levels of frustration at "nothing" happening. But - we're not Melbourne, thank Christ. Be thankful we can spend all this energy arguing about fringe players in/out.

My thoughts exactly, so many people hoping and wanting for things to happen, that they are getting frustrated that their not eventuating........

We will be fine. Our improvement needs to come from within.

Christ, the overuse of "Out of favour" On the AFL website is beyond a joke.

Theres a difference between not being able to crack a spot and being out of favour.

Not sure if this has been posted in the thread as yet;

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...olution-to-pederson-trade-20121025-287bm.html

North Melbourne has shown an interest in Melbourne midfielder Jordan Gysberts as a potential solution to the impasse in getting key position player Cameron Pederson to the Demons.
The Demons have so far been unable to satisfy North Melbourne with a suitable draft pick to trade for the Kangaroo.
Melbourne has already used the No.3 pick on youngster Jesse Hogan and its No.4 selection was considered off limits. The Demons have also committed their second-round selection to Jack Viney under the father-son rule.
In a busy trade period for the Demons, they also secured Chris Dawes from Collingwood for a late first-round pick and a swap of third-round picks, making it harder for them to satisfy the Roos with a suitable draft pick for Pederson.
Gysberts was the No.11 pick in the 2009 draft but, after some initial progress, his career stagnated in the 2012 season.

It has, but what I particularly like about the article is the line "Melbourne has already used the No.3 pick on youngster Jesse Hogan and its No.4 selection was considered off limits." Goddammit, if only they hadn't ruled the number 4 off limits, we might have got it for Pedo!

Stupid footy manager is stupid. Pies would of got pick 4, they no what their doing, we are getting bent over like always.

So we have until 2pm tomorrow to sign Ben Jacobs ?

Yeah, it ends 2pm. I am not sure what has changed over the last two weeks, probably nothing. Will be interesting to see who flinches first; Port, Jacobs or us.

Hansen, Ziebell, Wells, Swallow, Spud, LT, Adams, Thompson, Grima, Wright, Dish, Goldi, Boomer, McMahon seem to be our senior core of players that Bon has stuck by since he took over. Would imagine these 14 or so have played most of the games under Scott.

We have seen Atley, Bastinac, Harper, Tarrant, Anthony, Cunnington and MacMillan come through to make up that senior team and it is a balanced side.
The good thing is about 13 of these boys are yet to play their best footy and the rest are at or near career best form.
By targetting Jacobs, Gysberts, Hine etc do we increase the number of those playing career best footy or do we just get more potential?

Get the feeling the club is still taking more gambles with the state of the list when 2 or 3 years ago the risks werent as great as to what they are right now.

Who can we get who is playing career best footy tazza? And for how much?

I view them as potentially best 22 players, who at worst provide adequate depth... for 3 - 7 years

We need more midfielders. I'm fine with getting Jacobs and Gysberts.

With the way the list is currently, we could get badly exposed if injuries hit the midfield. It's far more vulnerable than the talls that everyone's worried about.

Well looking back, it looks like Boak was the best fit. It's hard to know from the outside, but I wonder if our crew regret not going harder at him?
Considering that the super duper trading crew at Geelong couldn't get him I doubt he was going anywhere anyway. Port are probably paying him shitloads. He would've been a decent get but he stayed at his club.

He'd have to be their highest paid player, maybe 600K to 650K a year?

Guys like Boak and Nathan Jones (good players at shit clubs) would be on seriously good coin. His potential move was certainly never for extra cash.
