Agreed. You are one of the better posters on here Fossie and I wish others would lead by your and a few others examples. Fresh was the same - never insulted anyone but was hounded and insulted by most for holding different views.

I know footy is over and people need a new horse to back, but surely we are all adults capable of somewhat intelligent discussion without the childish need for insults and name-calling.

And I mostly can't stand Trump as a human. He is a narcisistic fool, but as per usual, the myopic view is just on him. I think RFK Jr and Tulsi are fantastic and the fact they are on his transition team is very encouraging. Also, as a left-wing person strongly for abortion and gun control and trans-rights and more, who loves Bernie Sanders and large elements of democratic socialism, I equally find what is behind the Democrats terrifying and sincerely hope they don't get into power. And I am equally baffled that most can't see it, but that's the beauty of disagreeing with civility and levity.

Let's hope the others in this thread are capable of the same.

Fossie, you have your views and you are most certainly welcome to them. Like most people I'm fairly sure your media slants largely to one side of the spectrum and thus, me sharing my views on here would be not only an exercise in futility but also, eventually, exhaustion, as I have no intention in spending thousands more words back and forth attempting to vigorously defend them. I have other things which demand my time and attention.

It wouldn't really serve any purpose because, while there would probably be much we agree on, we are not going to be able to truly understand the other's point of view because our opinions and emotions at this late stage have ossified into something unyielding and resolute. This saddens me, but maybe in some ways it's better than how it used to be, with two sides of the same coin. Who knows. As long as people are not nasty to each other it doesn't really matter anyway. It's just more red and blue footy teams to follow.

Interesting theory you have, but no, not at all - disagreement, if civil, can often be the lifeblood of this great forum, good sir! All power to them to you and to me. And on the contrary, I often agree thoroughly with some of the commentary on Trump here. Indeed, if you were so inclined to scroll back through this thread, you'd see me affirming such views with my digital thumb.

It's more about the sheer mind-numbing quantity of it and the overwrought, unrelenting nature of it - the indefatigable obsession people have with one man's demonstrably atrocious character over some of the real issues the US and by extension, Australia, is facing. It seems almost pathological at times, as KH has aptly demonstrated, almost like TDS should be entered into the DSM as an official instance of mental illness. But I will keep it to myself in future if it sews such discord.

Meanwhile, anyone not of the accepted worldview can start to feel like a medicine woman in Salem in the late 1600s. But I digress. Make of my words whatever you wish.

They want to give your kids sex changes during recess at school.
They want everyone to have health care ,WTF are they thinking ?
They are encouraging the young to wake up to themselves and turn homosexual
They want to get rid of domestic pets , so want all immigrants to add them to the menu.
They don’t want to give billionaires anymore tax breaks , again WTF !
They don’t want Russia to take back what is theirs !
They want young kids r*ped by an uncle or mad Mexican to be able to abort.
They are trying to tell us immigrants and refugees are actually human , I say BS !
They want to be lead by a coherent adult , never been charged with anything, what would she know about life !

Mate, I've followed this thread for a long while and have seen insult after insult hurled at anyone brave enough to espouse a different view to left-wing-approved groupthink, including from our resident monarch, with the result of them somewhat sanely vacating this thread so it can resume its groupthink circlejerk status. Usually while the mods have sat back and done nothing.

I ventured on here trying to discuss the nuts and bolts of the election process, which I've always found fascinating, but all I've seen from the usual suspects in here is infantile drive-bys. If all you have in your intellectual grab-bag is shouting 'Orange-Man-bad' ad-nauseum or that Vance has funny eyes, then someone is eventually going to call you on it.

I now enjoy reading their posts when I need some laughter. One poster recently called all trump supporters marks. Yet all I see is this poster being triggered. Being a mark works both ways. So funny.

Meanwhile the real world prices in a trump victory including all the companies that follow democrats. I guess they are all dumb too.

For me, it helps to remember that these people, mostly out of sad levels of pathological fear that has been drummed into them of some huge and mostly non-existent Boogeyman, now willingly support censorship of anything they disagree with, so it's no shock that the thread ends up like this.

They are now the undisputed and self-appointed arbiters of truth. Just in case you were unaware. Two things about this perspective often make me chuckle to myself:

1. The party of love, compassion and inclusion are the ones that have filled this thread with epithets, drive bys and petty infantile insults of those who have dared to espouse alternative views, and,

2. The Party of the Establishment and all it entails: Wall St, Big Pharma, alphabet intelligence agencies, Big Ag, the IRS, Dick ****ing Cheney, etc are now the good guys. lololol

Like you, I get a good chuckle out of the high school level behaviour and a refusal to see the forest because they are obsessed with the moral integrity of one loud orange tree.

The problem here all along has been when you have people like myself that don't have a side and are then attacked for having an opinion that doesn't go along with the mob mentality prevalent in this thread.
It's very much, if you aren't with us you're against us mentality. Which isn't great for any type of constructive discussion or debate.

Good point Fossie, on a second reading, the use of the word 'stupid' is a bit insulting. But that's not my post. Unfortunately, as I've mentioned, the template of unremitting tribalism will permeate almost everyone on a site like this, so this thread really is an exercise in futility and I'm done with it. Hopefully everyone's chosen avatars supply them with what they crave.
