I'm guessing you would like to be taken at your word. Why can't you afford him the same courtesy?

Please moderators, shut this thread down!

For those who like to live in an echo chamber. Just start a ' I hate Trump, who's with me?' thread.
You cry echo chamber, yet seem to be taking umbrage at me asking a question for clarification.

If that's his view, then I think it's completely undercooking it. Am I allowed to disagree? Did I say he couldn't have that opinion? Again, it's weird to cry echo chamber.

The danger that Trump's re-election poses in my view is the consolidation and possibly expansion of the maga movement, partly because people want to be on the winning side. Yeah, my team won. Up yours them!

But my Dog there are some fundamentalist personal freedom crushing zealots amongst that lot and I'm not sure the children of those voting for them will thank them once their idealogical indoctrination wears off. But it might be too late.

The US has a chance of being involved in a civil, non-alienating political conversation that may begin the process of addressing some of the deep divides within their society if Trump doesn't win. No chance if he does and the next opportunity could be generations away.

Thoughts prayers America, thoughts and prayers.

OK from here nobody post anything that is 'having a go' at other posters, or however you want to define it, or it will be removed, as it just escalates.

Mutt, I think it's for the best that you do that. But you've lowered yourself in my eyes with uneven moderation and only kicking up a stink when alternative views that you disagree with have the audacity to enter the chat and call out some seriously childish behaviour.
Disagree here. Mutt and Fossie doing a seriously good job here. Don’t play the man 😉.

Just a hypothetical - Trump and all his staff members perish in a plane crash next week.
What actually changes for the better in the US and the world? (And please don't answer "the bad orange man is dead")

Same hypothetical for Kamala.

And the last hypothetical - both presidential candidates and staff members perish.

Are the planes brought down by surface to air missiles?

It’s a funny world we live in.
Some want to shut down an opinion forum because they get offended !
Seems a bit woke to me ? Which in itself is somewhat ironic.

The beauty of the system, unless you push the wrong icon you won’t have to join in on all the fun !

I have been called deranged, left wing crazy as well as just recently advised i need to seek some mental health 🤪
I don’t take it personally, in fact gives me laugh.

This is a serious thread and topic !
My belief is ,if this is where politics is heading, then it’s not going to be a great world my grandkids will grow up in.
If decency and the belief in democracy is now no longer worth vigorously defending, then as a western world we have lost our way .

Trump has told me and the world who he is , but the Trump fans on here just don’t seem to believe him.
His last rally you would think would set off alarm beiis ?
Apparently not 😢

The issue is Kamala is a dreadful candidate who is being advised by morons,

Trump is very easy to beat if you have half a brain ignore him/his supporters and let him tear himself apart with his narcissistic tendencies and vulgar views on women/immigrants or anyone he views as lesser then him (hint its everyone).

As a genuine no horse in the race because I genuinely hate all side of politics nowadays I wonder what the staunch democrat supports would be saying about Kamala if it wasn't Trump on the other side.

Kamala has actually picked up a few policies from Trump/GOP. So defining him as an easy beat seems a bit disingenuous.

I think you can look at what the staunch Democrats thought about Kamala earlier this year, when the primaries went the way of Biden ahead of Harris, despite Biden's clearly declining mental state. I suspect if Harris wasn't Biden's running mate initially, she wouldn't have got the eventual nomination and it would have gone to whoever was his 2024 running mate before he dropped out.

Kamala is a dreadful candidate?
Expand ?

Could they have a better candidate ? probably.

Trump tried to overthrow an election, if you believe in democracy, it shouldn’t be hard ?

I posted earlier on all the things one side politics won’t do , which should give you a taste of how Ridiculous Trump and the so called Republican Party have become.

There is some weird fascination with Trump .
I suppose that’s how cults work ?

Kamala is dreadful yes,

How did she do in the primaries in 2020?

Have you watched her in any recent interview? She gets the questions beforehand and still fumbles around the answers and resorts to bringing up Trump in everything as well as not stating her policies and instead telling everyone to go to her website to find them, We saw how well the "do your own research" line went for the voice vote here where voting is mandatory.

There is little to nothing about her that shows she can lead the free world and again if it was anyone other then Trump on the other side any sane person would agree she is absolutely woeful.

I'm currently reading Don Watson's essay "High Noon - Trump, Harris and America on the Brink".
He's always an entertaining read if for nothing else than his mastery of language and story telling (you don't have to agree with his position).

One sentence jumped out:
"... once the Democrats allow themselves to be defined by their opposition to Trump, the fight is as good as lost."

Not sure what his conclusions will be when I get to the end of this essay but if they are postworthy I'll post them here.

It's a spot on assessment,

The more you attack him the stronger he grows Americans are stupid,

Ignore him and he will just throw out continual word vomit and look like an idiot to anyone who isn't a staunch Republican

But at the end of the day, Americans will only end up with one or other of Harris or Trump. I agree Harris is lacking as a good candidate. But the bottom line for Americans is a choice of:
  • don't vote
  • vote Harris
  • vote Trump
  • vote third party candidate (with zero chance of victory, and effectively serves as a default vote for a main candidate)

Whichever option they choose, the only possible winners remain Harris or Trump.*

* unless protests/riots (which appear inevitable regardless of winner or margin IMO) and any associated violence escalate to something larger. Then, there is no winner. But the major loser is the American populace. And potentially any other nations closely linked to that populace...

Only 5 days until we at least see an indication of how this plays out.

In 2020, Biden basically ran on 'not being Trump' and won the election. Now that people have seen the alternative, I don't think that is enough to win an election. There needs to be strong policies conveyed to the public. All the events i've seen from Harris is simply "I was a prosecutor, I grew up in the middle class, and Trump is terrible."
I could be wrong, but I think Americans also want to hear what Harris can do for them with her policies, not just what she did pre-politics, her home situation or how bad her opponent is.

Third party voting is the only way meaningful change can happen in the future.
I wish more of us would do it here.

Genuine question because I can't recall - has Harris' campaign differed to Biden in 2020 in this regard? Is she more/less focused on Trump than he was (particularly given Trump was the incumbent at the time compared to someone who's been out of office for 4 years today)?
