I’ll condense your paragraph into a single sentence answer: you support the Republican Party (led by Trump) and its policies.

I know why you are saying you aren’t supporting for Trump as a person. So you can avoid anyone challenging your views and say they are attacking the man.

But I’ll play along, so tell me what GOP policies you agree with?
He is very polarising and I don't like lots of what he does as a person and how he treats people. But sure, keep thinking you know my thoughts.

I agree with stricter immigration, less military conflict/wars, stronger economy and I also like the fact that he isn't a lifetime politician. The Rock has been hinting at getting into politics, I think he'd do great as someone shaking up things from the outside. I also think things like the First Step Act are good.

Those are not policies, those are just vague statements. And they’re not even true either. He didn’t decrease illegal immigration.

There is no evidence to support that US had a stronger economy under Trump. It has been thoroughly debunked and shown how he inherited the strong Obama economy and ran it into the ground. Show me one thing that Trumps admin did that improved the economy.

It’s funny you mention the First Step Act because it’s actually something Trump is on record saying he actually regrets it.

Again, what actual policies do you agree with/support.

So what if he regrets it, it was a republican policy and I thought it was positive. I think the wall is practical, although expensive. The no tax on tips policy, which Democrats actually copied. I also liked how he made US energy independent. I wish Australia did similar, instead of drilling for oil, shipping it overseas to get refined then importing it back to Aus etc. I agree with the GOP's push for Voter IDs.

Nonetheless, i'm not voting. I'm not sure why it matters what policies I agree with and disagree with.

Interestingly, independents have swung 20 points to Trump in Georgia. Biden won it by 9 and now Trump is up by 11 in exit polls.

I think this is a genuine question. Sensationalists are claiming the Trump will swing in time of unrest, authoritarianism and unprecedented persecution of minority groups. These are similar statements made by the same groups previously when Trump came to power.
My question is there backing to these claims because evidence from last time shows that the claims were to an extent exaggerated and distorted. Economically the country seemed to progress well. Foreign wise he seemed to also perform well in keeping conflict to a minimum compared to the world currently. Will things change dramatically if he wins? Will it if a Harris wins being the current administration?

Harris smashing Pennsylvania so far.
But they're all the early voters, which skew heavily to Dems. Apparently she underperformed in the pre-voting, compared to Biden in 2020. Republicans can still reel it in with Election Day votes.
NYT giving Trump a 68% chance of winning the presidency.
Trump also has a big spike in black/latino votes. Miami flipped red for the first time since 1988.

Harris now leading Pen, Michigan and Wisconsin.

If that continues, and she holds Nevada that could pretty much be good night Irene for the grub.

Unless we see surprise flips elsewhere.

I dont really care who gets in, but Id like to take the opportunity to ask a Trump supporter something that bugs me.

Isnt it obvious Trump is the very model of a demagogue? Someone who says anything and everything what his supporters want to hear and whose sole ambition is to get elected and then .. whatever, job done.

I think he has tried to do what he said he'd do, but hasn't been able to achieve it all. Still a lot more he could do for sure.

Ok all For all you people who would prefer someone with good character to be leader of the free world
—————— Time to switch straight to the draft thread ————— who do you like for our first pick 😬

"The government you elect is the government you deserve" has never stood truer for the people of America.

Assuming the Trump lead holds, I'm just frustrated by the external impact that this likely has on the rest of the world which doesn't get to vote in the US election, particularly climate ('drill baby drill') and institutions like NATO if he does what he's threatened to do.

A White House incl. Trump, Musk and RFK Jnr reads like a seriously unfunny skit.
