Oh, didn’t they tell you, mass deportations are commencing soon
I shall open my one bedroom retirement village unit to share with any fellow American who is deported. Must commit to a Bulldogs membership in return.

I'm really wondering what freedoms are up for grabs. Freedom of the press perhaps or dissenting views? Dissenting views and scrutiny over the last 4 years could be trashed with rhetoric (often extreme) but not much else, effective though as it has been. What now? Unfettered power. It's a little worrisome I'd have thought. One wishes to be wrong of course, but I can't escape the feeling the American electorate is the turkey that just voted for an early Christmas.

The fact that you think freedoms are in dispute is frankly laughable. Bookmark this comment in a few years time when none of your fears are realised. Remember it's the Democratic party whom weaponized the courts to catch Trump. It's the Democratic party that leaned on Google and Facebook to censure free speech. It is the Democratic party that are the fascists trying to hold onto power. Americans saw that and voted accordingly.

BTW I've noticed a lot of YouTube comments along the lines of "lifelong Democrat voting for Trump this time" and "lifelong Republican voting for Harris". Bloody strange world we live in!

Bookmark it if you want. There's nothing at stake for me. But the erosion of liberties cannot be discounted in my view. Trump and his allies have a rare opportunity over the next 2 years to consolidate the law in their favour. I expect them to take full advantage.

I think YouTube is useful for learning guitar and listening to music.

The comments are clearly a mix of authentic viewpoints and bots.

I wish people would stop predicting what will happen in a month, a year, four years, 50 years.
Economic disaster, environmental catastrophe, the end of Europe. F**k me! Most of you predicted Trump would lose, badly.
Fact is, we all know jack s**t about what the future holds.
Unless of course, you're claiming to be a clairvoyant or the latest prophet.

But it's fun in a morbid sort of way.

Don't go around touting surface-level GOP talking points and opposing Dem policies if you are going to pull the "does it matter" card when someone asks for even a slightly detailed list of the views you support backed by facts/evidence.

The wall "practical". Ha. Did you also think it was practical for him to try and make Mexico pay for it too. Right now that wall is in the same status as his medical plan replacement for Obama care.

"Energy independent." Another false claim. [https://www.forbes.com/sites/rrapie...nce-soars-to-highest-levels-in-over-70-years/]

The GOP wants to install Voter ID as a mandatory feature with the purpose of it being voter suppression. You cannot argue in good faith that it is being proposed in order to combat "voter fraud", which is such an incredibly insignificant thing according to known statistics (between 0.0003 percent and 0.0025 percent): [https://www.brennancenter.org/sites.../Briefing_Memo_Debunking_Voter_Fraud_Myth.pdf]

Just come out and admit what you are: someone who acts like they know what they are talking about but really knows jack shit.

After 8 years I do not have the time, patience or energy to deal with barnacles on the arse of progress like yourself in a civil manner.
Gonna be a tough 4yrs ahead for you then mate.

I’ve lived through many periods I didn’t enjoy champ. At least I know what I’m talking about and keep my integrity. Still haven’t refuted any of my points as expected.
You seem to think you can read my mind. So what is there to refute. Just have a bex and a lay down. The fact that he is up by more than 5 million votes is a big pill to swallow. I guess 70 million Americans are 'wrong' 🤷‍♂️

What is in it for you Pugz89?

Do you have a view on China, Russia (Ukraine, NATO) in relation to the result.

Please inform us.
I don't know the future, but I do know no new military conflicts started during his last term. I'm hoping that continues and that global tensions simmer down and conflicts are settled quickly.

You are wrong.

Provide a coherent argument for Trump.

Lovely - world peace under Trump. Putin will sit back and enjoy holding his western front at the border, obeying NATO law and allowing Ukrainians to clean up the mess.

A lovely vision.

I don’t think you have your finger on the pulse of geopolitics.

Handling the result well. I've only seen conservatives called names in this thread. I've been open to conversing about my perspectives.

It's things like your last sentence that alienates people. Play the ball, not the man.
Fossie 32 might need to moderate the thread a bit tonight.
Pugz I don't agree with many of the political views you've expressed here but I admire the way you have weathered the slings and arrows and stayed calm in this thread. I'd probably have walked away by now.

Congrats on your man (or perhaps your preferred party?) getting up. I hope it goes well for the USA and especially for the many disaffected and disadvantaged people who changed sides and voted Trump. I have grave doubts but I'll be watching with considerable interest over the next 4 years.

It will be interesting to see who the 2028 candidates are. I wouldn't be surprised if Tulsi Gabbard was the GOP candidate, but I think the DNC options are a lot more spread.
For DNC's sake, you'd just hope they don't go with an AOC type, who is far more progressive than even Harris.
Progressive, universalist economic policies are popular with Americans, based on issue-specific polling. A long-standing problem with the democrats is their sidelining of such policies, in favour of disproportionate focus on identity politics. If progressive/social democratic positions were actually accepted and effectively articulated by democratic leadership, they would have an opportunity to appeal to more working and middle class voters.

It's not ideal for us, but if I was American, I'd think it'd be a good thing. Brings manufacturing back to the US, creates jobs, and also boosts the economy and exports.

Not ideal for US trading partners BUT he is doing the best thing for those he represents and I don’t expect otherwise from any leader who is elected to act in the best interests of their people.
