How about Gaetz resigning frim Congress two days before a house report into him grooming a minor was released? Because he resigned, it may no longer be. You know that saying, "if you've got nothing to hide".

Trump has offered him a role as AG as well. Means that the party and its voters don't care about character.

The house should release the report any way.

When Smith finishes his final report he has to had it over to AG Garland. And given how Garland has slow walked the investigations into Trump there is no certainty that the report will ever see the light of day. It certainly won't after Trump takes office.

Trumps naming of Gaetz and the rest of the unserious freak show is designed to achieve 3objectives. Enrage the democrats and test the bounds of what a newly Republican controlled Senate will stomach. All indications are that they are completely unwilling to stand in his way lest they be on the receiving end of a mean tweet or worse still a primary challenge to their position funded by the worlds richest man child. And finally to gut the institutions that stand in the way of the looming kleptocracy.

Everything is now a test of loyalty so that when he unleashes the agenda that he campaigned on and promised there are no institutional roadblocks in his way as there were last time when he was for the most part surrounded by serious and competent people. Who could steer him away from his worst impulses like asking why the people protesting him cant just be shot in the leg. He wasn't going to make that mistake again so he's surrounding himself with yes men who will inevitably squabble amongst themselves trying to get the attention of the King.
