Would be a bad idea with teams using white for their clash jumpers.
cuffs would be extremely marginal in creating a clash, that's the fault of the number panel.

white cuffs make the number panel feel heaps more integrated on the back, plus its classic magpies

How would it be any different to the white collar/cuffs on the Magpies guernsey?

You know how the Prison Bars always looks terrible when you try to wedge teal into it somewhere?

That's because the strength of the Prison Bars is the even balance between black/white (and the balance of vertical/horizontal elements). Teal ruins this. The strength of the BiB is that it is mostly black. White collar/cuffs ruins this.

Different designs have different strengths and what works on one design will not work on others.

Doesn't work with the Vs on the front though. At all. We'd have the best looking kit in the AFL from the back and the worst looking kit in the AFL from the front.

I've softened on the number panel on the home after being initially really against it. It works.

(as an semi-related aside, if we were magically somehow able to wear prison bars as a home strip at some point in the future, i'd argue that we should wear white shorts with it. Looks amazing with white shorts, better than with black IMO.)

This is the solution. Stop trying to make other things look like the PBs and just wear the PBs already.

Then create an alternate kit that stands on its own, Grand Final ready in the event of a clash. I think the original 1870 guernsey (sky blue hoops) with white shorts looks great. It's basically the kit that Argentina's rugby team wears but with more hoops. It's effective as a clash, nods history and most importantly doesn't bastardise the PBs with teal lightning bolts.

PBs whenever you can. 1870 kit when you can't.

Done.

Nah there's really no connection to the blue hoops. Cool history nod but would never make it as an actual permanent option.

There's no connection to any clash guernsey design though really. They're all largely compromises with a few notable exceptions, all of which have some history behind them (WCE yellow wings, Collingwood white, Brisbane red).

I still hope a training guernsey as gorgeous as this one is in the pipeline though.

Teal prison bars are excellent.

Imagine if we entered the league with them. Then we'd all love them rather than irrationally poo-pooing it because of 'bastardisation of PB' nonsense.

Abandoning the PB for chevrons is a bigger insult to the PB than wearing them in a different colour.

Black with teal bars home, black with white away, white with black clash. Or any colour. Could be magenta or beige or lime green or red. No matter the palette, if it was prison bars it was Port Adelaide.
