It is easy to forget that we have added Mayes and Clarke into the best 22 in the first half of the season. Both will be guns but have played a handful of games each and each game they look a little more accomplished and comfortable. They are starting to look right at home!

We turned up at the start of the game. When we don't have 1 bad quarter we are usually competitive enough to be in the game, instead of giving them a 30 point head start. We need to keep hold of the ball more, when we win the ball and turn it over within 1 or 2 possessions, the entire team has to run forward and back forward and back, switching from offensive running, to setting up the defensive structures. It is taxing, mentally and physically, especially for a young team. It's part skill, part decision making, but it's not easy to fix, our players are inexperienced and haven't played a lot if footy together as a group, they are
to use to each others games, nor the game plan. When everyone knows what they should be doing, and is doing it, that's when you can move the ball quicker, because players are leading to where the ball carrier is looking for them, and it's timed so they can turn and kick. I've noticed often a lead us given but it's mistimed. By the time the lead is noticed, it's too late. This will be fixed in time and experience.

Lisle keeps getting better each senior game, still young for a KPF, surely must play more senior footy.

IIRC it was mentioned before game started that we had 6 players over 100 games and 11 less than 44 games
Not a bad effort when half your team is fairly inexperienced!
Yep. Heard this and felt quite "up" about our side. Exciting to think how inexperienced we are when you consider how this will translate in a year or 2's time.

Lisle's game was good by his standards, I feel that we should play him for the rest of the season FF or CHF.

Lester and Mayes should be permanent fixtures also. When Yeo learns when the right time to take the game on he will be a great asset on the rebound. Harwood is also a smart player we should keep rewarding.

I'm ignoring the 40 point margin because the boys knew the game was lost when it was 25 points. They dropped their heads and pressure a bit and the margin grew.
So, 25 points against 5th on the ladder at Subi is pretty good I reckon.:p

Our close to full strength side can stick with most teams when we're focused. We are just missing that bit of class in the hardest part of the game (late 3rd & 4th quarter) to put teams away such as the eagles and crows game.

The Carlton game too.

Hypothetically if we had a Tippet in the team I could see us being at least 6-5 if not 7-4.

We really aren't as bad as our results would suggest. I'd kinda lost hope before the essendon game, but we've definitely shown what we're capable of when we get it together. Perhaps this is merely wishful thinking on my part, but i think our 2nd quarter vs carlton wasn't an aberration.

Also, Jack Redden. At the start of the year, i thought he'd never be more than a good accumulator who tackles hard(not that there's anything wrong with that). There's nothing wrong with that, but this season i think he's started to show what he's really capable of. At his best, he can take marks, kick goals, is great in traffic, uses the ball well and is great at running players down. He's rarely done all of these things in the one game, but if he ever puts it all together...
i'm excited:) (of course, this is pure speculation).

A look at the stats from the Dockers game shows Golby had 29 disposals Lester and Mayes had 25 each. If they can maintain those sort of figures and Lisle can reproduce the forward line marking with Brown and Merrett back in the team I can see us roaring home in the second half of the season. Go Lions

We still haven't seen all of Rich, Redden, Rockcliff, Black and Maloney in the same team. Personally I can't wait. Think we will surprise a lot in the second half of the season.

A positive couple of days:

Luenberger and Zorko successfully re-signed and beyond just renewing contracts, clearly love being at the club.

Mayes rising star - and all the good signs of being a future star!

Joel Patfull. Not only stops the goals but kicks them too.

The fact that even though Jonathan Brown missed one, we didn't need him to spur us on.
