Some fantastic games to watch on the weekend. North v Demons and Hawks v Bulldogs were both classics. I also really enjoyed Saints v Pies for obvious reasons but the Saints were genuinely entertaining to watch.
Even though we have the Saints 2nd round pick I enjoyed this. Just hope they go back to loosing now though to push that pick higher.

Geez where do I start:
- Hanley back to his best
- Schache is gonna be an absolute star
- Martin is feeling great after that dog act by May
- We could possibly regain Beams and Rockliff next week
- We're above the Pies on the ladder (c'mon Dees smash them)
- And most importantly... WE WON

I've seen Bewick play live twice this year and both times, I've been impressed with his work rate and his willingness to put his head over the footy when it is his turn. He's a wide player and will always be "outside" - that's his role. If he's at the. bottom of packs, he's not doing his role. But I reckon a few people here need to start to reassess their view on RoBew. He's still a fringe AFL talent IMO but he's not the soft **** he's made out to be.

Cant count the amount of times he ran at full tilt over 50m just to present as a simple option up the line. Working super hard, and was throwing himself into every contest. Exactly the type of journeyman you need as depth.

Playing for his career. Love the guy. Bleeds maroon blue and gold.

Bastinac, Bell, Robbo great recruits.
Harwood improving.
Cutler excellent.
CBeams not injured yet this season, and boy can he kick.
Schache loves the club (according to his twitter)
Walker's heart lies with the club. You don't play out of your skin like he did without it.
We are not reliant on Green for goals.
Lester showing some hardness.
Win without DBeams, Rockliff and Martin.
Hanley appears to be 'back'.
Mayes at least tackled this week.

The changes to wear out players has definitely suited him. He looks like he can run and run and present an option still even when most others are flagging.

Lions social media team out in force so far this week trying to pump up positives from the weekend's game.

  • Should be an easier week for them this week!
I think they could selectively ;) spin some positives re the scoring too, it just might surprise a few after 4 rounds...

CLUB - 1st Half Score -- scoring shots // 2nd Half Score -- scoring shots
BNE 18 G -- 39 B = 147 ** 57 // 29 G -- 29 B = 203 ** 56
WBD 29 -- 22 = 196 ** 51 // 25 -- 25 = 175 ** 50
Have added Hawthorn who have also played GEE + WCE
HAW 25 -- 22 = 154 ** 47 // 28 -- 25 = 193 ** 53

Intensity of the 2nd half has to be the new normal from here on in.

It was so great seeing the "old" Hanley back. With that running goal at the start of the 3rd quarter it feels like he thought "It's my job to grab this game by the scruff of the neck" and he sure did that.

Rich was great. 8 clearances. I think he is stepping up to be an A-grader when for the last two seasons media commentators have said that he needs to. I remember a couple of seasons ago he copped a lot of criticism for being allegedly too soft, not getting in and under, going missing. He is in B&F form if you ask me.

Walker's effort in the ruck. 100% guts.

Seeing Schache kick an important goal. He is a crowd favourite already.

Feels like if we can play with that intensity then any Gabba game is winnable.

After that win, the way we've started and how other teams have gone - I'm thinking we can have a good crack at being 5-5 after round 10. I'm not sure how much of a positive that is, but it's been a long time since I've had that sort of hope based on our form and not preseason daydreams.

Rich's clearance and then long bomb into forward 50 was a thing of beauty.

For mine, Rich is turning into our best clearance player and Hanley surely has to stay in the centre square, I like Robbo in there for his nous too. Where do Rockliff and Beams fit?

Are we looking at Rockliff, Beams and Zorko all starting in the forward line!?

Agree. Also noticed he rarely fumbled last night especially in clutch situations when the ball was in Suns F50. I've always been a fan of Bewick and glad he is playing his role so well.
