For mine, Rich is turning into our best clearance player and Hanley surely has to stay in the centre square, I like Robbo in there for his nous too. Where do Rockliff and Beams fit?

We had times when Zorko and Christensen were in the centre square. The return of our A grade mids will gradually mean less centre square time for guys like that. You want deep rotations in there and our best side allows that.

Only Bastinac is really one dimensional in terms of position, I think. All the other mids have shown a good ability to go forward or onto a wing.

Worth noting Rockliff has played 119 games Bastinac 125 - Basti actually averages more goals per game 0.54/68 goals [Rocky 0.50 59 goals] - this actually surprised me.

I can't comment on the role Bastinac played at North but can he be stationed as a forward, like we've used Rocky in the past? Half a goal a game from the midfield is probably not unusual?

I think the issue with our use of Rocky as a forward is that it hasn't been possible due to the weakness of our midfield. You'd think that Rocky (and Beams) will spend stints as a deeper forward, as we've done with Hanley and Rich this year. I'm not sure we can use Basti in the same capacity.

I'm probably pre-empting mid rotations with the reduction of interchange numbers a little - After seeing the composure of the Basti last goal of the game I could see him fill this role. Sure, also limited seen data my side and maybe rose coloured glasses re the euphoria of last night but... a possibility? Let's wait and see.

Rich's clearance and then long bomb into forward 50 was a thing of beauty.

Remember watching that and thinking 'geez ive missed that'.

We won all the stats. Contested possessions+22, clearances, stoppages, tackled and total disposal count. This gave us 66 inside 50s for 37 scoring shots v 48 for 24 scoring shots.

We were hard at it all day and our tackles inside 50 were also much higher than them.

If we bring this desire to win the contested ball each week we will be in games for long periods. We just have to get better on converting our opportunities as 14. 23 will hurt most weeks as we saw against North Melb.

Great reward for playing hard and sticking to the game style.

Agree. Also noticed he rarely fumbled last night especially in clutch situations when the ball was in Suns F50. I've always been a fan of Bewick and glad he is playing his role so well.

What was good was that we were able to just kick it long when we got a center clearance as we were really good at bringing ball to ground and locking it in. Allowed the likes of Rich to just grab the ball and kick it. Walker and Schache just contest everything and bring it to ground. Zorko, Bundy, Bewick, Green and Squiz were then very good at harrassing and applying pressure to lock it in.

After that win, the way we've started and how other teams have gone - I'm thinking we can have a good crack at being 5-5 after round 10. I'm not sure how much of a positive that is, but it's been a long time since I've had that sort of hope based on our form and not preseason daydreams.

I can see us definitely capable of beating the Pies and Dee's but struggle to see we're the other two will come from. Bulldogs with key outs perfect timing for us as we are coming in with confidence, Port at Adelaide Oval a hard task but considering how their playing and their outs don't know, Swans in great form not very confident, Hawks at the Gabba is difficult but if we can push them as the saints and Bullies have done, who knows. If we somehow do manage to get 5-5 the second half of the season looks more favourable and we may have a shot at finals
