I thought the Hawthorn belting (part 3) was the low point.

Nope, we've plumbed new depths. This is Essendon's biggest win in three years, by the way.

Top 4 my arse.

Sack the coach, give the captain's armband to Shuey, move on Priddis and Butler etc, and rebuild.

If there is only one or two changes next week I will vomit.

I think we just need to **** off Redden and make an example out of Priddis (Simmo wont though). Bring in some new blood and give them some games.

I can understand Priddis being in the team while the kids spend some time in the WAFL but I think the time has come to throw Partington in there.

If Priddis is dropped, Mark Hutchings won't be much better.

Had a great view of the game on the 3rd tier of the wing. Essendon played us perfectly, unlike Port and the Dogs. Hard at the ball, smashed us in the contest. When they won possession they linked up with short passes into an open 50 to take our intercept marking game out.

They kept huge numbers set up through the middle so we really struggled to pick our way through quickly. Their defence was well set up by the time we got it down our end.

All started with their dominance in the contest though. Allowed them to play the game on their terms and made us reactive.

Honestly I was getting too worked up watching that game so I had to switch it off. While the disappointment is still there I think it helps a lot with dealing with it.
Went to the game left at half time what they dished up was absolutely disgusting being at the ground (for a half) what really stood out was the lack of accountability and how far the guys played off there opponents to soft slow and to many bad decision makers, would like to see the likes of Nelson Watson Willie venables come through the second half of the year and start to phase out some of the slower senior types pridiss lecras butler

Seriously, what inspirational act did Shuey perform today to make him captain? He was rubbish today and part of the problem, i.e. the midfield was smashed all day.

Just getting the usual stuff out the way?

I'm a little worried about Barrass. Seems to be beaten often and is slow. Not sure he is suited to FB.
Needs to trim down a bit imo
Yep, could maybe drop some weight if it helps him with speed across the ground. Honestly though, today was not a good day to be a defender. Ball was coming in low and clean. The pressure up the ground was non existent.

You're a positive poster. It's nice, refreshing even.

But surely, even you, can see this particular group isn't damaging in Melbourne.

Sure we might finish top 4, but it has to be top 2 to stay away from Melbourne ala 2015. Otherwise its bye bye early in September.

Understand your frustration with certain posts and or posters, but you can't go the complete other way with your views.

There has to be a middle ground.

This group, isn't up to it in Melbourne. And whilst we'll be thereabouts, I don't think we can quite go all the way.

I think FB is his best position, however I can't be fully ignorant to the fact he looks cumbersome and slow at times. Think he went for a little too much size in the off season.

Has to played every week, sending him back to the 2's won't help his improvement.

Well, it is a vent thread.

Obviously Simmo won't be sacked this week, and he shouldn't be, but more of this in 2017 and there will be genuine questions asked whether he is the right man to take us forward.

I think Hurn should pass the captaincy on, which Shuey should easily win, and some senior players aren't cut out for it. Making up the numbers in finals isn't the right direction we should be happy with.

I think I fought harder to get through my beer while being hungover than these guys.

Truly dreadful and the fact that these losses have little to no resistance is pretty concerning. At no point did we look even remotely like coming back. Theres a premiership to be stolen if they want it but cant see it happening.

Yeah I dont think he should be dropped plus I'll let him off today with the amount of entries I've just noticed it the last few games. The issue is we have 2 guys that are intercept type key defenders in Gov and Barrass. Personally I think they are both suited to CHB.

Teams have worked out how to defeat Simo's game plan. It's that simple.

Good teams don't bomb long into their forward line, that works in our favour with McGovern, Barrass, Yeo and Hurn intercepting.

So they patiently bring the ball forward by run or short low passing. They know our midfield isn't quick and we simply flood back anyway. Quick smalls cut us to bits, Mitchell, Priddis, Masten, Sheed and Gaff simply lack the leg speed to defend against quicker opponents.

We missed Hill's pace and defensive running today, Cripps struggled back from injury.

Vardy was one of the few positives.

So that was horrid, in a way it was easy to watch because the result was never in question. I really want to defend Priddis but I can't this year, even in space, he only has one kick and that's a big up and under to nobody's advantage.

Shuey was missing early when the game was on the line and fumbly as well, started the year so well, I wonder if something is wrong.

JK did correct for some mistakes early, but his 2 behinds were simple shots from memory, really should have had those early goals but I can't fault his body of work, especially his marking contest positioning and the timing of his releases. Beautiful to watch.

I thought Shep was close to our best, just went like a man possessed and as he does so often, never gives up.

Coaching was crap, Cripps should never have played and Hill would have been better, but that wouldn't have won us the match.

Mcgovern forward is a shit move, he thinks he's better than he is and gets caught with the ball a lot, he alo ****ed up possessions in the back half with his lazy attitude and kicking style, needs a spray after that game.

What's a little bit frustrating is that I read an article on the Bombers website about not bombing it long into the forward line and then they executed it on match day without us having much of a contingency plan.

They made it public knowledge FFS :'(
