Don’t think anyone was talking about fighting climate change? I was taking about mitigating the impacts of higher temperatures. The fight is well and truly done with.
I don't care about climate change too much, but I don't see why removing pollutants is a bad thing lol, who wants to breathe that shit in? People piss and moan about wind farms killing birds while ignoring the impacts a coal fired power plant has on everything around it.

What's wrong with making the local environments a little nicer by removing crazy pollutants?

I strongly support Nuclear Power, too. Australia is the type of country where Nuclear Power is a no brainer. We don't get tsunami's, we don't get too many earth breaking earthquakes. Nuclear Power Plants are almost too good to be true, except the soviets ****ed that up.

Yeah tend to agree with all that. I suspect we missed the boat on nuclear power, like all high-capex long-term-payoff investments it takes someone with balls to get it done, and we haven't had pollies with balls for decades.

We should definitely have a nuclear waste disposal industry. We have some of the best sites in the world for it, isolated locations where there's no-one around and the geology is perfect. But again no-one has the balls to make it happen because people will whinge about minor risks, as if there aren't minor risks in walking down the street or going on a plane or supporting St Kilda or whatever.

Nuclear just isn’t viable financially. The cost and timeline along with no one wanting it near them making transition problematic is also an issue. Renewables with localised storage is the path that everyone is on makes it cheaper all the time.

Spoke to an old fella a few years ago who'd spent his life as a power grid engineer. We were of the same opinion as this, that an intergrated rooftop solar network with localized storage was the way to go. No more blackouts, or major infrastructure required.

So why can European countries make it work but we can’t?

I'm trying to wrap my head around this Sam Kerr thing.
According to the woke brigade
saying "Stupid black cop" is racist but saying "stupid white cop" is not racist because racism can only be perpetrated against a marginalised person or group.

It’s an absolute laugh isn’t it. The noose becomes tighter and tighter around the woke neck.

Most built it years ago before they had renewable alternatives. I was in Japan after Fukushima, they had warnings on all the foods that were produced and there were suggested avoided areas that covered huge parts of the country. Try putting that in around Melbourne or Sydney. We had coal so never had to build expensive Nuclear also.

It's still the most expensive form of power generation and would take a huge national investment because no private enterprise is paying to set it up. Most of the technology that they are selling it on hasn't been proven to work. Renewables are getting cheaper all the time due to so much investment in it. It is a path that the world has set on. To step off that path as a smaller population to go backwards would be insane.

Technically it probably fits with the definition of racism but it's to do with historical power imbalance. It's harder to understand now because societies have become more tolerant. Nicky Winmar's generation were still abused, left out of jobs, housing etc. Calling a person who has grown up with shame and trauma due to their skin colour isn't the same for them. It's not woke just decency.

Reading X and seeing people comment on the cable-tied aboriginal kids makes you realise a lot has just been hidden. The hardcore racism is still out there.

I can’t imagine that because it would be a completely different reactor, not built on a fault line lmao

They are vulnerable still and you need to store spent fuel. It just doesn't stack up. It's like demanding steam ships in the diesel age.

We have a toy one in Sydney and that's been a source of controversy forever. Sydney's nuclear nightmare: The alarming story of Lucas Heights
I reckon we could find some vacant land somewhere in Aus for spent fuel.

No, it’s like comparing diesel ships to, well, nuclear lol.

You’re correct, the world is heading down the head-up-arse path of “renewables”. Everyone gets a battery! What are they made of again? How efficient are they?

Ah well, at least the climate will stop being racist then!

The world's youngest boomer.

Social media taking over from legacy media has really unbalanced s**t too. The old media was 90% bullshit but gave people a sense of consensus certainty on things. Now it's a frontier of various "truths". People form very binary views that get reinforced through algorithm reinforcement. Issues are tribal rather than weighed up.

if you don't like trans people you hate climate change s**t too. If you approve of abortion you like a strong social security system. There doesn't seem to be much critical thought because of the extraordinary amount of information at our fingertips.

I have a Trans child in my world of people I care and provide for, I reckon the choice they make is to be true themselves...and that is a massive decision considering everything that comes after it. I understand that people get discombobulated with things they can't fathom...however hate and fear should not be the go too emotions when we are confronted and confused with what we read or hear or see...these feelings restrict people's ability to think, and be compassionate and understanding of another person's life situation....a trans person or an a sexual person or a gay person is not going to cause you harm, bit like acknowledging first nation's people deserve to be acknowledged same as us in the constitution. It doesn't actually affect any of us...it makes this country a better place to live in.
Fear and hate are tools used to control us, and help us make bad decisions...case in point John Howard 2001, Abbott when he won and Scum f*cko when he won.
Thanks for reading 🥰

Another embarrassing effort from Gringwoke 😭😭

Embarrassing by you social media experts who have talking point depth concepts that you regurgitate because you think it sounds like what someone from your side of politics should say. You guys are the Gerald Whateleys of political discourse.

My grandparents were WWII country folks. They were more accepting and open minded than most people these day. A story he used to tell us was when he was first married and didn't have much money, his cows got out of the paddock and a neighbour called the council and had them all impounded. The ranger dobbed the neighbour in.

A while later the same thing happened to the neighbour and instead of calling the council my grandpa rounded up the cows and locked them back up in the blokes paddock. He used it as a parable about why you shouldn't stoop to being a c#$%.

Used to do my head in but now I get it. Living a good life and leaving people to live theirs is a good set of rules.

That would make you the Robbo.
Often late, missing points, lacking in the grey, devoid of any humour with the exception of the pitiful ironic kind, rambling at best in your arguments, and when those fail there’s always the ejector seat of name calling 😎💅🏼

I've had a few beers, not a bad call. In hot weather I'm feeling pretty Robbo.
